Zime (BETA) To-do and Calendar – try this stylish 3D calendar app with Google sync Install

Zime (BETA) is a beautiful and innovative calendar and to-do app that is a practical, elegant and original way to manage your productivity. The key feature of the app is its user interface- a crisp 3D wheel of dates that allows you to conceptualize your week in a new way. You can also add events and tasks in addition to easily skipping forward and backwards. If your Google Calendar feels a little boring, Zime might just be the remedy.

AndroidTapp.com Android App Review:

Pros & Cons:

Pros

  • Great UI!
  • Easy to use!
  • Incorporates both calendar and to-do app!

Cons

  • Badly needs more themes.

Features:

Zime is a shiny new calendar app that sets itself apart from the traditional in an innovative and fun way. Instead of the typical 2D blocks of events and dates, Zime presents your calendar is a buttery smooth 3D wheel. You can see what events you have ahead, add new ones and even create daily tasks. You can also zoom in and out and adjust what you see simply and easily. It essentially gives a whole new dimension to time management and productivity.

First and foremost, let me allay the concerns of those of you who (like me) are somewhat entrenched in Google Calendar. Everything I do goes through Google Calendar- it’s a central hub of my family’s activity and we all let each other know what we are doing through it. Thankfully, Zime syncs with your Google Calendar so everything can be imported. Anything you create in Zime is also automatically created in Google Calendar too so it goes both ways.

That concern aside, what is it like using it as a daily driver? Well, there are some really good features to enjoy- but it still lacks a few. Firstly, it’s great to be able to see ahead to the forthcoming week and see what you’ve got going on. The view is excellent, very smooth and lets you ‘see’ your planned events in a whole new way. Secondly, the fact it syncs with Google means it’s easy to integrate- it’s not like you have to enter everything all over again.

Watch on Mobile

You also have a feature called Debriefing Coach. This lets you honestly and objectively report how well you completed your tasks and attended your events. Where you on time? In a simple little interface you can mark yourself on how well you did and challenge yourself to beat this score next time. While I don’t think this will work for everyone, it’s certainly an original twist on productivity and motivation.

One thing that is important to many Android users is the look and feel of an app. The app is themeable but currently only includes one grey default theme. I think if people are going to try and use Zime more and more, it needs to feature a more attractive selection of themes to try. Still, I’m sure this will come in future updates.

I think the app is a few significant updates away from something that will wholly remove the need for you to use Google Calendar, but it is only in beta stage of development so I’m certain things will only get better. Zime currently stand out as an app that is very different to any other kind of productivity application you might have used before. It’s an exciting innovation that’s also fun to use.

Usefulness:

Zime is very useful and primarily a whole new way to see your weeks and months ahead. It offers more or less all the features you would expect from a calendar app and integrates well into your day-to-day life.

Ease of Use:

Viewing your calendar is great and it’s fun to scroll through your weeks and analyse what you need to do. It’s a far more visual way of seeing your events and is very innovative. The app offers more or less all the functions you need but, I did find some of these less intuitive to execute that say in Google Calendar. In a nutshell, it’s still a little rough around the edges but shows masses of potential.

Frequently Used:

I use my calendar intensively and on a daily basis. For me, I think Zime is a few updates away from becoming my go-to app. However, it’s certainly worth a try to see if it works well for you.

I mostly like the way you can easily view your week ahead as something more meaningful than a number of coloured blocks on a grid. Therefore, it doesn’t really replace Google Calendar for me but rather compliments it.

Interface:

The interface is currently both a strength and a weakness for the app. On one had it’s innovative, original and very interactive to use. It is also pretty intuitive and a brilliant app to show off with. However its lack of themes is a little bit of a let down and I hope this is remedied soon. That said, I perhaps am a little besotted with app aesthetics so this might not be such a niggle for other users.

Should you Download Zime? Zime is a cool new way to see your calendar and comes with a slew of great features plus a gorgeously smooth 3D user interface. It still needs a few big updates to perhaps completely usurp your use of Google Calendar, but it’s undoubtedly a fun and innovative way to see your daily, weekly and monthly events. There are a lot of great calendar apps out there, but Zime really shakes things up. It’s also free, so definitely check it out as soon as you can.
