Sony’s releasing the Xperia ion… we first saw this HD powerhouse back at CES 2012 and now it’s finally coming exclusively to AT&T on June 24th for $99.99 on two year contract. Besides Nokia’s 808 PureView at a whopping 41 megapixels, this is one of the first smartphones to pack 12 megapixels into its rear camera, and the front camera is not the measly VGA resolution others have; yet capable of 720p HD video calling.
The key factors to buy this phone is obviously the cameras, the price, HDMI-out support for broadcasting the phone’s display onto a television, high resolution 4.6 inch screen, blazing fast dual core 1.5 GHz processors and even faster 4G LTE Internet speeds on AT&T’s new network. Lastly, we want to point you to the video below that shows off SmartTags, which are NFC chips that allow you to program the tags- touch and share control various aspects of the phone (similar to what we’ve seen with Samsung’s recent announcement of TecTiles).
