XO Skins Review, plus Motorola DROID & HTC Hero Protective Skins Giveaway!

The kinds folks over at XO Skins gave us some skins to try out on various models of Android phones and we’ve left 1 over to give away to a loyal reader. The skins are clear protective overlays to cover most of your phones’ surface to protect against nicks and scratches. You can see in this video how well they work. It’s been a couple of weeks since applying the skin on my personal Android phone and must say it really does work. For those who like to stash their phone in their pocket, you won’t have to fear as much about scratches and damage with these skins.

XO Skins are not limited to Androids phones like the DROID, Hero, MyTouch or G1 (priced at $15 bucks with free shipping).  They offer a wide array of protective covers for devices such as iPhones & iPods, Blackberries, laptops, digital cameras, game consoles, GPS devices, and more.

Want a Free XO Skin for your DROID or Hero?

Two lucky people will get the skins mailed to them and all you have to do is subscribe to our RSS feed then comment below why you need a protective skin for your DROID or Hero. That’s it! We’ll choose a random commenter and follow-up via email for mailing info. The giveaway starts 12/16/09 and will end 12/31/09, winners will be chosen 1/1/10.

Update: XO Skins gave off a $2 off coupon code on any products in their store: androidtapp2off

I need a case for my Droid because the battery cover keeps falling off when I take it out of my pocket.

I used to not even getting my Hero out of the house because i couldn’t find a suitable and reliable skin! I think now is time to take my Hero out without worrying about scratches etc!!! I need this skin! It’s superb!

I saw one of these on a phone once and thought it was a really great idea. I hate the usually size that a traditional cover can add, but I am always fearing scratches on my Droid now. I keep it in my pocket, by itself, but I am still worried that it will inevitably get a nice scratch on it.

These skins seem like a great compromise. I’m not sure they would help much against dropping, but that’s a chance I am willing to take.

    Thank you Santa!

I tried the skin for my droid that was available at the verizon store – static cling, came off very easily. I was about to buy a hardshell case for it, but realized that I could no longer dock it (something I do every night, it doubles as my alarm clock). Your XO skins look much better – seperate applicator (not static cling). I would love to boast about your product.. but to do that, i must acquire.

This case looks pretty sweet. I have the screen protector from Verizon, but its not ideal, and all the real cases are too big.
I do have a question though, how does it deal with the battery cover? Do I need to peel off the case every time I need to get into the battery compartment (swap batteries, sd card, etc)?

Nope, no peeling off the skin to get to your battery. The skin is precision cut so it does not obstruct key areas like opening the cover, volume buttons, audio jacks, etc.

am a drop it in the loo, on floor, in the trash, from a fourth story window and into the dogs mouth type of person. My phone is crying out for protection and I’ve caught it trying to sneak back to the store in the middle of the night wimpering softly. Please, my phone needs you before I kill it.

My droid has already met concrete a couple times. I’ve been known as the guy to “stress test” new devices. I’m pretty sure this skin is my only hope.

First of all, great website. The minute I got my Droid I subscribed. Thanks for letting everyone know about all the great news apps.

I need a protective skin because 1) I’ve got two cats and for some reason they like to play with the Droid. I already have a bite mark from them. and 2) I have a protective screen shield but it only lasts for like 5 days before it starts peeling off! So frustrating!

Even if I don’t win, you guys still rock and I’ll definitely keep coming back!

I need a protective cover for the Droid because the ones that I got for Verizon were $12 and impossible to align and mine looks like karp – which makes my otherwise pretty awesome phone lose some luster compared to all the phones with fruit on ‘em I am surrounded by.
