AndroidTapp.com Android Game Review:

Features:

WordUp! Android Game brings the fun and excitement of the classic Boggle word game to G1 or Android powered phone users. The game is played using a grid of lettered dice, in which players attempt to find words in sequences of adjacent letters. Playable in the traditional 4×4 letter grid or 5×5, rush to get as many words/points as you can against the clock.

Gripe Alert: When playing WordUp! you have to trace the cubes carefully as to not accidentally include the wrong letter. We would suggest the developers add tapp and/or trace options in spelling words as the trace is not as responsive. One workaround we found was; when tracing… try to slightly hold on a letter then quickly slide to the adjacent letter (Rinse and Repeat). Otherwise you would have to trace slowly which could affect your time.

Also a nice feature enhancement would be to save your high score and/or see how you score against other Android users.

Fun Factor & Addictive:

If you loved the classic Boggle word game then you’ll love the Android version as it can to be fun and addictive trying to see how many words you can find.

How to Play:

Here are some tips on how to play WordUp!

The object of the game is to find as many words as possible on the grid before time runs out.

When you find a word, simply trace your finger over the letter cubes to spell it.

There are a few rules that must be followed when tracing out a word:

  1. Each subsequent letter must be horizontally, vertically, or diagonally adjacent to one before it.
  2. You may use a letter cube only once per word.

Words are scored as follows:

  • Three letters: 1 point
  • Four letters: 1 point
  • Five letters: 2 points
  • Six letters: 3 points
  • Seven letters: 5 points
  • Eight or more letters: 11 points

You may choose from the following options:

  • Use 4×4 grid, or 5×5 grid of letter cubes
  • Time limit of 1,2,3,4 or 5 minutes
  • Specify minimum number of letters per word as 3,4, or 5 letters

Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:

WordUp! Android Game takes advantage of vibration as you spell a word combination that is correct, you get a buzz.

This is a really good game, and a great way to waste a few minutes while in line, waiting for someone, etc. It used to restart randomly every once in a while, but the latest update claims it’s fixed, and so far so good. With that fixed, I think I will buy the premium version.

I wish I could contact the author though, I have some ideas I’d love to see done. (First among them, keep track of missed words over many games, I’d like to see if there are words that pop up a lot, but I miss repeatedly.)

I love this game! As said before it is a great time killer (by the time limit option you can choose how many minutes you want to have killed).
The function to look up words is fantastic to learn new words. (Maybe you recognized by my weird writing that I’m no native speaker of the English language.)

I really like this game. As has been said before it is a good way to pass the time(say you have to wait in line for a seat at a restaurant.Just turn down the volume a bit and hold it in your hasn) I do have a question though and that is why does it give you a percentage total of words that you have found, only to have the percentage of words found change after from 1 to as many as 10 per cent, after the bell on the three minute time dings?

I do wish I could find a valid game like this for my home PC computer.

It’s an ok game for what it is. My only gripe about it is that it’s nowhere near as fun as the original PC version. That game had so much character and this version, although playablity-wise very similar, it just seems… lesser to the original version.
