This is an interesting story highlighted on THE DOCTORS television show of how two folks from opposite ends of the planet were playing the game Words With Friends which resulted in a life being saved!
Missouri resident Beth Legler first virtually met Queensland, Australia’s Georgie and Simon Fletcher more than two years ago when she began playing Words with Friends. After not responding in the game for some time Beth sent Georgie a chat message within the game’s system to prompt her to play. In short, Georgie replied she couldn’t as she was consumed with her husband’s health concerns as of late. Beth inquired a bit more about the symptoms, as she is a nurse and relayed them to her husband who is a doctor, and he recommended Georgie’s husband go to the hospital. Simon had a 99% blockage of the left main coronary artery and received emergency surgery. The timing allowed him to escape death. The moral of the story from our perspective illustrates our global connections irregardless of location or medium, even through addictive social games and apps!
