AndroidTapp.com Android Game Review:

Features:

Wixel is an Android Word Game that mixes features from popular board games like Boggle and Scrabble in solving word puzzles. The game is simple, quick to learn but surprisingly difficult. It has a massive 180,000 word dictionary. The Lite version has all of the game features of the full version except for the online play.

Wixel is the authority on scrambled word games with its vast dictionary and unique game modes. Play solo anywhere or challenge friends and others online. You can play in 4×4 and 5×5 game boards. Even rotate the game board to reveal more word combinations.

Wixel features “Progressive” mode which is tough because it won’t allow you to proceed and add new letters until you successfully solve all word combinations presented. You can also view word combinations missed after the game is over.

Often compared to Lexic Android App which is in the Market for Free, and similar to WordUp!Android App. Yet elevates from the aforementioned apps with its UI and unique game play modes.

Fun Factor & Addictive:

If you loved the classic Boggle word game then you’ll love the Android version as it can to be fun and addictive trying to see how many words you can find. Wixel presents more challenge with its Online play and Progressive modes.

Graphics:

The graphics and UI are Awesome! Wixel uses wood grain textures to give the feel of playing with Scrabble game board pieces.

Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:

Wixel takes advantage of sound, vibration and LED light while in game play.

I just thought I’d let you know that the official product page for Wuzzle is Wuzzle for Android.

I will check back here if anyone has questions. Thanks for the review!

  2. Name says:

I have a question. I read to play online you need a data connection. can i play online via wifi if i am overseas without a data plan?

  3. Robert Green says:

Yes, WiFi will work for online play. Wuzzle Online works with any active data connection.

  4. Tezzer says:

The game dictionary is horrible- an extraordinary number of non-words are present (Tolidine? Rennins? Lentoid? Nereid? Deixis? Telern? Loided?) and a number of english words are missing, which makes the game unplayable and annoying.

    • Robert Green says:

      Tezzer,

Just for the record, Tolidine, Rennins, Lentoid, Nereid and Loided are all real words. You can verify them in the oxford dictionary or by using a2zwordfinder.com. You are correct about the other 2 of the words. Those are false-positives.

The list we use is 100% correct but the algorithm we used to store such a large list on a phone and load it quickly causes a marginal false-positive error rate (.005%). Many people would never notice it except that the false words will show up in the “missed” word list. About 1 in 1000 missed words may be a false positive. Since these false positives are distributed uniformly across all player’s scores, they don’t actually affect your overall scoring at all, especially with comparisons to other’s scores.

We apologize about this side effect but hope that getting the game down to 1.1MB and quick load times makes it all worth while. The false positives should never prevent real english words from working.

      Thanks for playing!
