When I Get Bigger is a fun interactive ebook for children, featuring three modes of play and a rich narrative for children. If you’ve already checked out and subsequently enjoyed Bedtime Battle and Just Me and My Mom, this is of similar flavour and features the Little Critter protagonist from the latter title.

Pros
Cons
When I Get Bigger is a cute and interactive ebook for small children. There are some keen interactive elements to the story which let the child read along or identify items in the pictures. Children can also look for a small mouse on every page.
There are principally three modes: Read To Me (where the story reads while the child flicks the page over), Read It Myself (here the child reads the story to themselves, although there are prompts for word pronunciation) and finally Auto Play which lets the app completely take over, reading and turning the pages. It’s all very intuitive and easy to understand- children could, in theory, be left to play with the app themselves.
The format and the structure of the app is loads of fun, but these stories seem incredibly dated. The Little Critter stories began in 1975 and you can really tell their age. Bedtime Battle is an even older story. While I really like the way the stories are presented, I wonder how cool more modern and up-to-date narratives would be on this kind of platform.
These apps are great for entertaining children, although the dated themes and every-so-cheesy narratives might not encourage them back for more. The three modes of use is a nice feature and a reason to like this format. Children can either read themselves or be read to and the rich interactive elements are really functional.
Incredibly simple to use. Children could pretty much be left to their own devices with this hugely intuitive and helpful app.
I think due to the nature of the story, I think there will only be so many times the story gets read again. My children have enjoyed this, but the novelty soon wears off and they still prefer modern texts.
The interface is remarkably smooth and, while the art work is original and therefore a little dated, it runs nicely and is highly interactive. With a rich variety of hidden words for children to find, in addition to the mice to pick out, it’s an app very much with the little user in mind.

Should you Download When I Get Bigger? When I get Bigger is a fun inspirational tale that small children can relate too. The text, pictures and narrative are relatively dated, but small ones will enjoy them nonetheless. This title seems to be a little cheaper than other titles in the range so definitely check it out if you haven’t encountered these stories before. To be honest, the story perhaps doesn’t offer much on top of other titles such as those mentioned before, so if you’ve already downloaded Just Me and My Mom, there isn’t much to motivate you to buy this. There is no free version, so certainly use caution as it only has a limited appeal.
