Weather HD is a rich and visually stunning weather application. Featuring gorgeous graphics and a slew of handy information such as temperatures, wind direction and speed, precipitation and forecasts. If you don’t require the level of data required to run your own weather station, Weather HD beautifully blends basic info with stunning looks.
Price: Free and $0.99 for Pro version
Tested on: HTC One X
Content Rating: Everyone
Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Dazzling graphics!
- Customisable weather info!
- Add multiple cities!
Cons
- No live wallpaper options (a shame as the graphics are so incredible).
- No widgets.
Features:
Here at AndroidTapp we are rather fond of cool weather apps and Weather HD is a new favourite. Its stand out feature is the stunning graphic representations of different weather types. They’re gorgeous, just as impressive as anything you might find in BeWeather or Go Weather. I like the fact too that, when you tap on forecasts, the predicted weather is also displayed in full glory. It fills the screen with exquisite animated representations which look amazing.
It’s not just a pretty face either. You can also display the high and low temperatures of the day, wind speed, a clock, precipitation, heat index, air pressure, dew point, wind chill and visibility. The cool thing is all of these are optional so you can add or remove the information that is important or relevant to you. Now, the app is no eWeather- the information is still relatively limited and isn’t going to be quite enough for the budding meteorologists among you. However, for the average user who just needs to know whether to take a coat or umbrella to work or not, this is perfect.
The app does lack widgets- which is a shame as I’m sure they would be pretty cool, and there’s no live wallpaper option either. These small issues aside, the app rocks as a gorgeous-looking and thoroughly impressive solution to finding out the weather now and over the next few days. If you want a beautiful weather app, this is definitely worth checking out.

Usefulness:
For discovering what the weather is really like out there, for finding out whether it’ll be nice or rainy tomorrow and for the following days, Weather HD is great. It lacks the wallpapers or widgets that would make it even more useful but, with a tidy collection of info, it will tick most users needs.
Ease of Use:
The app is highly intuitive and the only thing you’ll really need to do is add your city and select what info you want included on the display. If you choose more than one city, you can swipe from side to side to view them.
Frequently Used:
The app updates regularly so you can check the weather as often as you like. It depends on the user as to how often they open the app up though… some people just look out of the window!
Interface:
The interface is fluid and simple to use. The app is popular on iOS so many of the design standards would appear to have been replicated here.
