Wallbase HD Wallpapers is a top-draw resource for the very best Android wallpapers. Essentially a client for the fantastic Wallbase website, the app boasts access to over 1 million unique wallpapers and you can search via traditional means or by tags. It’s also an incredibly good looking and slick app to use. We all like a change of wallpaper from time to time, and this is as good as such apps get!

Features:
Wallbase HD Wallpapers is an extraordinary resource for high definition wallpaper eye-candy. Now, we’ve all seen plenty of wallpaper apps; some good- such as the recently reviewed Zedge- some bad and some downright ugly! Concentrating only on wallpapers, Wallbase veritably blows the competition away with an advance of a million HD wallpapers (as they state).
There’s the chance apps like this, even with such a vast number, can suck. If the user interface is patchy, unresponsive or ugly, this will only put users off. Additionally if you can’t create accurate searches again it’s going to be difficult to find what you’re looking for. However, Wallbase does both of these things incredibly well. The UI is incredibly slick, a metallic grey theme with responsive screens, simple navigation tools and incidental drop down menus that are remarkably intuitive. This makes using the app very easy and it feels natural to do so, even if you’re knee high in amusing images of Android eating Apples!
The search functionality is two-fold. You can search in the normal way, i.e. a search bar and magnifying glass icon, which is as simple as using Google. Secondly, there is an extensive and carefully created tagging system which means every wallpaper is tagged with a number of different ways. For example, I found a cool Dr. Who picture which came with the following tags: TARDIS, Companion, Karen Gillan, Amy Pond, Doctor Who. These then can each be tapped and searched independently.
I think the only thing that bothered me a little is that, when you perform a search that goes on a small tangent, you can’t seem to go tap back effectively. So, perhaps you search for ‘Doctor Who’, then decide a picture of the TARDIS would be good so tap the ‘TARDIS’ tag… if you then want to tap back to something you saw under ‘Doctor Who’ it instead sends you right back to the main menu. For all the intuitiveness and easy-search options, this is a noticeable niggle, but not the end of the world.
Setting a chosen wallpaper is easy. Beneath each is the options to ‘Wallpaper’ which lets you crop and then install as your wallpaper, ‘Share’ gives you a slew of options to share the picture however you wish, ‘Save’ will save the wallpaper to a special folder on your SD card in addition to a section within the app. ‘Zoom’ will essentially remove all these options and let you look at the wallpaper without distraction. Simple, effective and easy to do.

Usefulness:
One other feature that makes this impressive app even better is that you can search under image resolution size. So, simply find out what the resolution is on your Android device and identify wallpapers which fit your screen perfectly. It’s things like this that make Wallbase HD Wallpapers extremely useful and fun to explore.
Ease of Use:
Using the app is very intuitive. Simply tap pictures to open up their menu and choose what you want to do with it. Another quite neat thing is the inclusion of ‘SFW’ and ‘SKETCHY’ toggles. That way, you can choose to include or cut out the staggeringly comprehensive array of semi-famous underwear model images.
I did find by tapping back you too often go right back to the main menu instead of the previous search, but this issue aside, it’s very easy to use.
Frequently Used:
I tend to tinker with my wallpaper every now and again. Sometimes one might last a couple of weeks or more but every so often I change it. I imagine the same might apply to other users too. While it might not be an app you use too often, it’s still a superb collection of gorgeous HD wallpapers that is easy to search.
Interface:
The UI is brilliant. It looks great, featuring very slick menus and search tools.
