I would buy neither from Verizon.

Why should I? I can just use wifi only and since I already have an Incredible from them that tethers wifi, I have no need for additional 3G service.

Instead, I’ll look for the Galaxy in Walmart or Best Buy, priced more reasonably (say in the $200 dollar range) than Verizon has.

If I still can’t find that, I would consider the Wifi-only iPad.

I don’t know about it even being an Android vs iOS battle, if it was I’d pick Android. To me, a tablet needs to have content (e.g. movies, games, productivity, books, etc.). Content is the really disappointing thing with Android.. Android has apps but not tablet apps, but I really want easy access to movie rental and purchasing on a tablet and I want great apps. Nothing against AppsLib, but they have nothing on Google’s app market and there hasn’t been a good implementation of a movie service on Android yet.

I believe if you have an iPhone, get the Galaxy Tab. And if you have an Android phone, get the iPad.

    I’m getting the Galaxy Tab.

I’m wondering if the Verizon version will have GSM capability? I’m gonna need it when i travel abroad!

I thought US galaxy tabs were stripped of telephony?

Neither right now. I can’t afford to have both a tablet and a smartphone at this point in my life.

I will say that I very much hope there is a full featured Android tablet available next year, when my Moto Droid is up for replacement. I fully intend to get a tablet and use it instead of a phone.

I have been looking for an internet device that could make calls, in about a 7-inch screen since long before even the iPhone was a realistic thought. But then… I’ve wanted a remote LCARS pad since the late 80s…

And for those who say that 7 inches is too large for a phone, at this point why would anyone need to hold a unit up to their heads for a phone call? That’s what bluetooth is for.

The 10 inch iPad is both too large to fit comfortably in my hands, and too locked down for my personal taste.

I am extremely disapointed with Samsung. I thought that the Tab was supposed to be around $300, maybe $400, but for six, no way will I buy one. They are only trying to match the iPad, which I wouldn’t take if it was given to me… well, maybe I would and just sell it to an idiot. They did do a better job building it that Apple did theirs. Okay, I want the Galaxy Tab, but not on Verizon’s network (ethics) and not for $600.
