Cons
- Using just the standard settings, I had a hard time getting the elements to display right on my skin.
- The options are so numerous, it is very overwhelming.
Features:
The Ultimate Custom Clock Widget is exactly what it sounds like from the name. It is a clock widget that allows probably thousands of combinations you can start with, and from there, the ability to tweak and change every setting of every element to your heart’s content. Great for the modder or designer in you tired of pre-designed clock widgets and want to create your own.
To be honest, it was overwhelming. As a free app, I appreciate all the options, and for the advanced user, this is going to be a god-send. You can, with time and patience, get EXACTLY the widget you want with this app. Everything from choosing the background, to how transparent it is, to adjusting the alignment and placement of each element… there is literally nothing you can’t adjust here. And when faced with so many options, I didn’t know where to start. I did like that you can save multiple skins, so you can play around, save the ones you like, and then keep tweaking. You can also export/import skins, so you can share the ones you’re proud of with friends, or if you don’t feel up to making all those tweaks yourself, find one to download where someone has already done all the work. A great resource to find some are at My Color Screen (though you’ll have to really search to find those who shared their skins.)
The one problem I had was that the default settings didn’t line up correctly. As you can see in the screen shots, the elements are all on top of each other, which was frustrating. I can understand wanting to be able to tweak, but the default should at least look halfway decent for people who want to pick and choose elements, but don’t necessarily want to sit and spend the hours manually adjusting the placement of each one. It was frustrating, especially since when you get to that level, the options become even more overwhelming and I just wanted to be able to pick a few elements, choose my background and go.

Ultimate Clock FAQ
Usefulness:
If you want to have a single widget where you can put all of your information, like the time, date, weather, battery status, etc. in one place then this is a very useful app. If you spend the time to master the app you can get some really impressive results that personalizes your Android device to your tastes.
Ease of Use:
I actually found the app a little hard to set up. You’re more or less thrown into the deep end of the pool, and there aren’t even any pre-installed skins to start with – you have to start from complete scratch and figure it all out. There are no explanations of what anything is or does, either. You just have to play around with the settings to figure out what each of them does. Watching the lengthy video above is probably the best you’ll get as far as instruction goes, as visiting the long developer thread for help extends scores of pages.
Frequently Used:
Once you get a skin or two you like, you probably won’t be in adjusting the settings very often, but the end result, the widget, you’ll use daily, if not constantly throughout the day.
Interface:
This goes back to ease of use. The interface is very basic, and while it is packed with features, there’s nothing to help you figure out what or where they are, other than to just start playing with them. And everything is lumped in together – it would be nice to see, in future releases, if the interface was redesigned to make it a little easier to get started and figure out what it all is and how to use it. Even a few starter skins would help, since it would give you an idea of what you can do with the app.
