Check out or hands-on video of Ubuntu mobile OS running on a phone. Though shown on a Galaxy Nexus device it shows off some pretty cool features. Content is more prominent on this operating system, there are no physical buttons as most of the experience is designed to be invoked by the edges of the screen- eliminating the need for jumping to the home screen as you find staple in Android and iOS platforms. For example, swiping from the left bezel inward pulls up the most recent apps, swiping from the right bezel in- allows you to jump through apps and swiping from the top reveals quick settings. The new mobile platform had a few native apps but, however, we were not shown anything extensive, or a marketplace for third party developers. In the video you can see the user interface looks gorgeous and notice just how fast it flows; we would love to see it in production along with an emerging ecosystem behind it.
