TwitterRide is a simple and fast Twitter client.

Price: Free

AndroidTapp.com Android App Review:

Features:

TwitterRide Android App is the best Twitter integration on Android thus far and its Free! You can do virtually every Twitter actions via the app… Seriously! Post Tweets, Reply, Direct Reply , Search, Upload Pics, URL Shortener, Trending Topics, Update Profile Image, mark as Favorite and much more.

View your friends timeline with avatar and links to their profiles, favorite the Tweet, Retweet, Reply and Direct Reply (Delete if the Tweet is your own). Profiles show all information such as bio, website, Following/Followers/Updates count, quick actions Follow/Unfollow and even load their Timeline of Tweets. View all @Replies that address your Twitter account, as well as read/write Direct Replies.

When uploading a pic from either SD Card or Camera; TwitterRide Android App uses TwitPic’s Twitter photo Sharing service and Bit.ly for URL shortener (Oh, for those not familiar with all the Twitter jargon, a “URL Shorter” is what it sounds like. These services shorten long URLS usually more than about 40 characters which may come out weird, but redirects to the correct URL).

TwitterRide Android App features a real-time Twitter timeline search that can even search hashtags and display the top Trending Topics at the moment.

Slight Gripe Alert: In the Settings Menu, if you set “Check for new statuses when application is not running” the app will become a battery drainer. Recommended to check “Auto Update” in the settings menu (Updates Tweets evertime you launch the app). Otherwise this app can keep you notified of Twitter activity.

Usefulness & Ease of Use:

TwitterRide Android App is a must have for Androids on Twitter and very easy to use. Slight Gripe Alert: you have to tapp the “Menu” button to Post rather than it having its own tab.

Frequently Used:

Frequency of use is dependant on how often you Twitter chatter with your Tweeps. Potentially… addictive multiple daily use.

Interface:

The user interface is great! Organized and optimized for mobile use. TwitterRide Android App even color separates Read/Unread Tweets.

Hmmm, this seems like a strong contender against Twidroid.

Actually, I’d kinda like to see both of them in a side by side comparison.

I think I’ll stick with Twidroid though, as it can update much more frequently (3 minutes vs. 5 minutes), uses many more URL shortening and picture hosting services, and is also smaller in size, I believe.

    Great write up though!

I have the very same thought. How does it compare to Twidroid?

Thanks for asking this. On a personal note, I have stopped using Twidroid and have not tried the post-Cupcake version (which I should). I now use TwitterRide because I don’t have to even visit the Twitter website. True Twidroid has more URL shortener and pic services but it has been so buggy in my experience with it. The buttons were unstable upon press and I couldn’t get the app to update status.

The only problem I’m having with TwitterRide is the toll it takes on battery. I have not pin-pointed it yet. But after installing it (plus installing a bunch of other apps) and running it, when charging the phone on AC power… it takes hours to charge versus the 20-30 minutes… Strange

  3. Hey guys,

I stopped using Twidroid for a few reasons: kept force closing and repeated login troubles. After discovering and experimenting with TwitterRide, the first thing I realized, a huge difference in speed. TwitterRide simply doesn’t lag, at least when I use it. I haven’t noticed the battery issue yet.

Here’s another thing, I don’t rely on TwitterRide for most of my Twitter use when I can use Tweetdeck or EventBox on my Macbook.

If and when you find the re-tweet option, which I see upon reviewing the app you left off, please let me know. Other than it’s not customizable, that would be my only gripe. It updates faster than my desktop app – Twhirl. I actually love the app and it’s name.

Hey guys… I’m pretty new to this “tweeting” and I use Twitter Ride. I just sync it with my facebook account. When I “tweet” it shows up on my facebook account… but for some reason when I try to “re-tweet” someone else tweet, it doesn’t show up on my facebook. I know other “re-tweet” all the time in facebook b/c I see the “RT@…” many times. Am I doing something wrong? My facebook account is synced up.

I also cannot figure out how to delete my own tweets in twitter ride.

    Thank you =
