Features:
Tweetcaster HD is an excellent Twitter application for Android. Tweetcaster HD is designed specifically for Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablets and offers features like: simultaneous posting to Twitter and Facebook, Tweet over 140 characters with TwitLonger, two pane view for Twitter feed and user profile, and a tweet view specifically for photos, videos, or links.
Tweetcaster HD features a unique two pane design for it’s application interface. On the left side of the screen is displayed the options for either your user profile or a person you are viewing. In the left hand portion of the screen is the user’s timeline. The right hand side of the screen gives the user the option to view their Timeline, Mentions, Messages, Favorites, and My Tweets. When the user selects one of these options the information for the tab clicked is displayed on the right hand side. This means that if I click on the “My Tweets” option it will display all of my own personal tweets from the past in the right hand window pane. If I were to click on “Timeline” then my own user timeline would be displayed in the right hand panel. The right hand portion of the screen is scroll-able and completely independent from the left hand options. This is a portion of the application that is accomplished using Honeycomb’s new API’s.
Tweetcaster also allows you to sort through tweets in your timeline through three different groupings: Photos, Videos, and Links. This allows you to sort through all of the tweets in your timeline by each of these groupings in order to find specific types of tweets. I found this sorting option extremely useful when searching for articles that had been posted on Droid Life’s Feed. Instead of having to scroll through Droid Life’s user profile to find the article I wanted. I could sort my timeline by photos in order to only see tweets from others that included pictures. Tweetcaster HD then sorted the pictures into a gallery view and I was able to find the article I wanted by clicking on it’s image. This feature works the same way for videos and hyperlinks. Though I find that it works better for photos and videos because the large majority of tweets posted in my timeline contain hyperlinks and so sorting by links does not help much in locating specific tweets.
Tweetcaster HD allows you to search through Twitter using it’s “Search” option to find tweets on a specific topic or to locate a user to follow their tweets. This search function will suggest other users for you to follow as well as allow you to save your searches in order to recall them later to see new results. Under the search option there is also the ability to see what is currently trending as searches on Twitter and who is posting “nearby” to your GPS location.
Finally, Tweetcaster HD also allows you to send longer tweets with TwitLonger and update your profile simultaneously on Twitter and Facebook. This feature is extremely useful for those of us that like to give the same or similar status updates on Twitter and on Facebook. Instead of having to post on both of the platforms we can send one post to both. Normally this option would not be possible, because Facebook has a longer character limit than Twitter does. However, through TwitLonger this is now possible in a very real sense. By activating TwitLonger on Tweetcaster HD and coupling the application with your Facebook account you can send the same status update to both platforms and no longer need to worry about that pesky 140 character limit that Twitter imposes. This is an extremely useful feature to anyone who uses both the Twitter and Facebook platform.

Usefulness:
Tweetcaster HD is extremely useful and easy for Twitter access on a Android Tablet running Android 3.0 Honeycomb. The interface is extremely easy to use and feature rich. It allows you to view lists, find recommended users, save searches, TwitLonger, and post simultaneously to Facebook and Twitter. I especially like the tweet sorting option which allows you to see only tweets in your timeline with photos or videos, because it can make it much easier to find a specific news tweets you are looking for on a tech Blog.
Unfortunately you cannot create lists using Tweetcaster you can only view them. So Tweetcomb may be a better option for Twitter power users than Tweetcaster HD. I think the app has a cleaner interface and is easier to use, but Tweetcomb is packed with more options for power users.
Ease of Use:
Tweetcaster HD is extremely easy to use and has always been one of my favorite Twitter clients due to the simplicity of it’s interface. This along with easy access to more advanced settings like TwitLonger or simultaneous posting to Twitter and Facebook has made this one of the easiest to use advanced Twitter clients I have used to date.
Frequently Used:
I use Tweetcaster HD on a semi-daily basis. The biggest problem I have with this application is that since it does not have a widget in the HD version I often forget to open the application to check my tweets. Before HD versions of Twitter clients were being released for my Motorola Xoom, I was using the regular Tweetcaster application. The format was horrible for the Xoom’s widescreen, but the application did sport an excellent widget which worked splendidly on my Xoom and displayed the latest Tweets from Twitter. Without a widget associated with this application I often forget to use it, and sometimes miss out on important tweets.
There is an option to enable notifications for new tweets through Tweetcaster. However, I find constant notifications for Twitter annoying. You receive way too many notifications throughout the course of a day, and the majority of them are inconsequential. I would much prefer a widget for this application in order for it to become one that I use on a daily basis.
Interface:
My two complaints with the interface are the lack of advanced features like creating lists through the Tweetcaster HD application and the lack of a widget for the Tweetcaster HD application. I have already spoken on both of these topics earlier in the review so I won’t rehash them. However, other than these two issues the application’s interface is excellent, clean cut, and easy to use.
