Tweedle for Twitter is a light and user-friendly Twitter client. While previously we’ve reviewed Twitter apps drowning in lush functionality and featuring more bells and whistles than most users even need, you might personally find you don’t need all that jazz. You might want something simple, that looks nice, that lets you post tweets when you need to, is fast and lag-free rather than dripping in features. Such requirements would actually make Tweedle a brilliant option for you…
Price: Free
Tested on: HTC One X
Content Rating: Medium Maturity
Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Blazingly fast, clean and light!
- Themes and customisation!
- Easy to use!
- Twitlonger support!
Cons
- Currently lacks features, but many more are on the way.
Features:
Tweedle is a cool new Twitter client that places focus on usability rather than, for now anyway, rafts of unique features. Not long ago we reviewed Slices- a feature rich mega-client for Twitter that did absolutely everything and more. One thing this stunning app suffered from, however, was stability issues which for frequent Twitter users can be frustrating. If you’re that kind of user and would just prefer perfect stability over masses of functionality, Tweedle is for you.
First and foremost Tweedle, in my experience, is hugely stable. It’s also remarkably fast- certainly faster than any other Twitter client I’ve tried. Quicker than Boid, less lag than the official Twitter client and a slicker user interface than Tweetdeck.
It’s not an app that’s completely naked, however, it does have some functionality. You access your timeline, mentions and messages by swiping from side to side. It’s very smooth and responsive too so you won’t get any horrid lagging when you do so. You can adjust themes as well and alter all kinds of different interface colours. There’s a night-specific theme and four different pre-set themes which you can actually check out in a preview pane, so it’s very user-friendly and intuitive.
You can do things like view your followers and those you follow yourself. You can view your profile and scroll between your tweets, mentions and favourites. You can favourite, reply and retweet easily. You can view your lists via your profile too- both those you created and the ones people have placed you in. At the top of the main screens you get a tab to post a new tweet and a search icon. When you tweet you can add text, picture and location if you wish. It’s simple and straight-forward while still looking very polished and smooth.
Perhaps for the more hardcore mobile Twitter user, a few things are going to be lacking. List support is a biggie- you can access your lists but you can’t add them to your main dashboard. There’s no multi-account support. There’s no widgets or the ability to view pictures in-view. You can’t view trends either so for the dedicated Twitter user the app might feel a little too light. That said, the developers have promised that all of these things are coming in a future update so they are definitely on the cards and should be included soon.

Usefulness:
For accessing your tweets on the go, it’s as good as any other Twitter client. There are things missing, but I can’t imagine it should be too long before these are introduced. The thing with Tweedle that stands out is the speed. It’s very nippy and provides very easy access to your timeline, mentions and messages.
Ease of Use:
I think if you’ve used Twitter clients before, the app will be very easy to understand and use. Some things are a little hidden, such as lists, but overall it’s very intuitive and user-friendly.
Frequently Used:
Because of stability issues with other clients- even a former favourite of mine Boid, I use Tweedle as my primary Twitter client all the time. It works really well and, while it doesn’t have certain features yet, it does what I need it to. The developers are clearly listening to user feedback and have listed upcoming features in the apps description in the Google Play Store.
Interface:
The interface is customisable and very smooth. There are a few different pre-sets and you can change the various colours to essentially create your own theme. While it doesn’t have things like widgets yet, how many Twitter clients give you that much control over the look?
