Cons
Features:
Turning Melo is a cutesy low-carb puzzle-fest with good graphics, challenging gameplay and complimentary sound. You have to manipulate the game board by rotating hexagons. Each of the hexagons you tap has a pathway on it that has to be ready for the oncoming Melo to skip down. On his journey Melo must pass and collect 3 rubies if he possibly can.
It’s all very pedestrian and cute and you’d happily let children play it without any bother. The game is essentially logic-based so you have to continually work out the best path for Melo, avoiding nasty hexagons that contain hazards. There are a good number of levels and naturally they get trickier as you progress.
The beauty of these games I find is that they lure you in with a fun theme, get you somewhat addicted and they turn up the pressure with levels of utter fiendishness, they can leave you hitting your head against the wall. By this time it becomes a matter of pride and you refuse to let the buttery little characters beat you! Very clever.
The graphics in Turning Melo are very good, although fall short of absolutely amazing. The sound is actually of very high quality too and the music is a hummable ditty that doesn’t become overly irritating too quickly. Gameplay is genuinely challenging and it gets incrementally harder as you move through the levels. You end up facing different obstacles across a number of stages where your logic will have to be pretty damn sharp to progress.
All-in-all Turning Melo is an extremely good game without being revolutionary. The game is also free and comes in both a phone and tablet versions.

Fun Factor:
Turing Melo has fun at its very heart. The pretty graphics, toe-curling cute sound and fun gameplay make it both an enjoyable pursuit and elegant time-killer. Gameplay is obviously a little one-dimensional and players used to more variety might get bored after a while, but it’s great fun as you work your way through the stages and a good way to exercise your logical abilities.
Addictive:
Turning Melo is addictive for a while but you might hit a brick-wall of apathy if you come against a particularly tricky level. Until that point, or certainly if the game has well and truly seduced the competitive side out of you (of which there is no shame at all), you’ll certainly keep plugging away at it.
Graphics:
The graphics are very good and contain a variety of cool detail and effects. I particularly like the stars and Melo’s forward flip when you complete a level. Everything in Melo’s world is very primary colored and looks like a kids TV show in many respects. This makes for a bright and enjoyable experience that even younger logical minds can take on.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
The sound is Turning Melo is very good. Good music, sound effects and all the triumphant bells and whistles you get when you finish a level. The game makes you feel good about completing a stage and the sound is a big part of that. The music is good without becoming irritating and the sound effects compliment gameplay rather than sounding out of place. Overall, it’s very good- perhaps you could say how sound should be done on game like this.
