AndroidTapp.com Android App Review:

I hate iTunes. I need to throw that out there. I use Media Jukebox 12. It works with my iPod and my Android phone and I don’t have to put any more Apple stuff on my pretty Windows 7 laptop. But for you, I did it. I put iTunes on my computer… and I’m glad I did.

For those who use iTunes, this app is a must have. To be able to control your music from anywhere you can connect to the same wireless network as your computer gives you a ton of possibilities. You can be all suave as you sit on your couch with your lady friend and change the music at just the right time. Or you can be the ultimate host at your party and when that pretty lady mentions how much she loves Incubus you can declare, “Me too!” and type in whatever you want!

Side note: As a girl, I can tell you neither of these will work in real life to help you get a lady, but keep trying!

Pros & Cons:

Pros

  • Shows album art
  • If it works on my jacked up network, it has a 95% chance of working on yours
  • Can run in background

Cons

  • The setup is slightly cumbersome
  • Couldn’t get playlists to work
  • No remote play through the phone

Features:

Being able to remotely control your iTunes library with your non-iPhone phone is a great idea. It’s executed so well with easy controls and remote search. There is a feature to look through playlists, but I could not get it to work on my phone. The initial setup wasn’t as seamless as it could have been. It should be able to find your running iTunes on a computer on your wireless network, but in my case I had to manually put in the IP address. I’m sure this had more to do with my screwed up network than the app itself. I’m happy I was able to get it linked at all as most apps I can’t get that far on my network.

You get most of the features you have while in front of iTunes through the phone; shuffle, search, playlists, etc. If you could play the music through your phones speaker, this app would be perfect!

Usefulness:

If you play music from your laptop while not on you laptop this is the app for you! I can see myself using this while I do my chores without having to walk back and forth from what I’m doing to my computer. It makes it so much more convenient at parties as well.

Ease of Use:

Besides the face I had to manually enter my computer’s IP address, which the developer has executed very well, setup and use was very easy. All the controls are familiar and changing settings is a breeze.

Frequently Used:

If you are are an avid iTunes user and listen to music from your computer frequently, this app is going  to become your best friend. You’ll probably use your iTunes even more once you get this because you won’t have to be tethered to the computer to enjoy your music.

Interface:

The layout and operation of TunesRemote is intuitive and really user friendly. If you can use iTunes there is no learning curve using this app.

Should you Download TunesRemote? If you’re a fan of iTunes, I’m sorry and yes you should! If there was remote play through the phone it would be 5 starts.

Not sure I agree with 4 stars.

Lots of FCs on a Moto Droid. Also, a huge con that you don’t list is the inability to control remote speakers. ‘Remote for iTunes’ is a much better app.
