TomTom releases GPS turn-by-turn navigation apps for Android

Today TomTom released nearly a score of GPS turn-by-turn navigation apps for Android specific to those county’s geographic locations. But, I’ve personally wondered about how TomTom would hold up as Google commoditized their industry (like many other industries) by being one of the first to offer this service by default on all phones running Android, for free. The U.S. & Canada version starts at $49.99 (and this is the introductory price) and prices vary by country. The top benefit of purchasing the TomTom Android app over your free Google Maps app is that you have the entire map available offline without the need for an Internet connection. Do note, Google Maps currently only allows you to cache regions offline. Android Central points out that a lot of popular Android devices are simply not supported, which is a shame.
