TM World Clock & Widget is a useful clock application and widget if you need to know the time in different international time zones. It’s simple to use and has a choice of 3 widget sizes; perfect for whatever room you have on your homescreen.
Price: Free
Tested on: HTC Desire HD
Content Rating: Everyone
Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Really easy to use and set up!
- Neat, subtle and configurable widgets!
- Good instructions!
- Time zone converter!
Cons
- Clocks are digital, I’d be blown away if the app also offered analogue-style clocks.
Features:
You might or might not know this but, unlike my AndroidTapp colleagues, I live in the UK. Now, while this matters very little day-to-day, it’s very useful from my perspective to be aware of the time in Chicago where they are geographically based. It doesn’t take too much working out but it’s useful to have a functional app that can compare my time with theirs.
I’ve tried a few different World Clocks and this, for me, was probably the best option. I became aware of the benefits of this kind of app when I reviewed and tested SPB Shell 3D. In this gorgeous (and expensive) launcher, they have this beautiful 3D world-clock widget that throws a detailed globe from your screen and displays time from 3 different locations. Now I find that, day-to-day, SPB Shell 3D isn’t always the best option for me but I needed that function.
World clocks come in three styles in Google Play; the good, the bad and the downright ugly. While TM World Clock & Widget isn’t not as stunning as the SPB Shell 3D solution, it looks sleek and simple- perfect for what I was looking for. You can select lots of different time zones if you like, certainly more than the two I have. You can adjust the position of these by importance too, so it’s very customisable. You can alter the background and font colour too, so it can fit in with your overall launcher theme with a bit of tweaking.

Usefulness:
I find the app massively useful and I’m sure people who perhaps have colleagues, family members or friends who live in other time zones will find it handy too. It’s not the most complex or feature-rich app in the world and it could perhaps use a few more options, but it performs well and is very stable.
Another little feature of this app is the Time zone converter. This lets you flick forward to determine alternative times in the future. For example, if a meeting or a phone call is arranged for 11am on Chicago time, I can easily see that it will be 5pm my time. The clocks automatically cater for clocks moving seasonally too, so no need to worry about that either.
Ease of Use:
The app is quite basic and is subsequently very easy to use. The settings menus are typically Android styled and it’s not dislike viewing normal Android device settings. Tapping the widget takes you straight to the app itself so it’s simple to access.
Frequently Used:
I refer to the widget several times a week. If I send an email in the morning of my time I can know probably not to expect a swift answer as it’s in the middle of the night in the U.S. and so on.
Interface:
The interface, as explained is quite simple yet functional. It’s easy to use and is basically black and white Android menus. The settings/menus do have a band of adverts along the bottom, but these always seem highly relevant; such as links to the Galaxy Nexus device.
