AndroidTapp.com Android App Review:
Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Potentially makes typing on a virtual keyboard easier by enlarging the keys it predicts you’ll type next
- Great for fat fingered folks
Cons
- Slightly different learning curve for typing
- Does not offer speed benefits
- No Voice-to-Text for Android 2.1 devices
- No learning library
Features:
ThickButtons Keyboard is a virtual keyboard for Android that enlarges keys it predicts you will type next and shrinks those keys you would not use.
Gripe alert: the idea is cool by offering convenience when typing on touchscreen keyboards however it is a lacking many things to make it an effective virtual keyboard. It offers no speed benefits over the default Android keyboard in fact in a test we performed (among default Android, ThickButtons and Swype) it was the slowest with questionable accuracy. Also hindering the keyboard is the lack of a learning library; meaning it does not automatically store and present words you commonly use that may not be in the default dictionary, but they can be manually saved. Obviously you will not be able to use Voice-to-Text feature for Android 2.1+ devices.
