The Hype: 3 Verizon DROID Phones Getting Android 2.2 Soon and Google Testing Android 3.0?

Well as we all have come accustomed to, the rumors about Android 2.2 and now 3.0 Gingerbread are beginning to circulate around Verizon’s DROID family of Android smartphones. The rumor from AndroidSpin says they have information from someone inside the Verizon camp, stating that Android 2.2 will be released to the Droid X, Droid, and Incredible. The release has been rumored to come in the week of around August 6th. So please get excited if you will, but remember take it with a grain of salt, better yet just grab a big chunk of raw sodium chloride and wash it down with the phantom hype that is 2.2 any time soon.

Since this is a rumor blast, I may as well mention the rumor that Google has begun testing Android 3.0 Gingerbread.  There have been some snapshots of the OS in the wild recently but there have been no official released statements regarding the updated OS. I have heard that it will possibly be released around holiday season, maybe.
