Price: $0.99
The Gube “Rubik’s Cube game for Android” is Awesome! You can control the vector cube in a 3D virtual environment (panning/tilting) to solve the timed puzzle. Simply swipe the touchscreen to control the cubes rotation.
The Gube 3D Rubik’s Cube offers a lot more features to intensify your paying experience. Why would you want to make the Rubik’s cube harder… it’s already tough? Well… there are some people who can solve these puzzles in way less than 5 minutes. Did you know there’s a huge Rubik’s Cube community even competitions for Speedcubing? They actually render complex mathematics in their heads using an algorithm termed “cubed notation”. Thus the need for more of a challenge. The Gube allows you to change the cube/layer rotation speed, sensitivity, and even set how many times to dismantle the Gube when starting a game.
The Gube Rubik’s Cube is definitely fun and frustrating for others, which can lead to addiction with either the challenge of finally solving one of these things or how fast you can solve it.
The graphics are great, you can even toggle the of the Gube’s graphics, Lighting and Textures.
The Gube 3D Rubik’s Cube only takes advantage of Vibration. Accelerometer and Sound are not needed.

I updated my app to version 1.0.3 this weekend:
Compared to the initial version the following has been fixed:
- Small bug-fixes and performance improvements.
- Improved textures and a better background image.
- Fixed ‘Force Close’ when pressing trackball down for long time while rolling it. It seemed that this bug has been present since the initial version and has now been fixed.
- When the Android OS kills the process or the user presses ‘Quit’, the state of the Gube is not saved. The state is now saved correctly. The player can resume the game as he or she left it.
- There was a problem bringing the user to the Android Market when clicking the ‘Upgrade’ button. This is fixed and the site of The Gube in the Android Market will be shown.
Version 1.1.0 is available (4/4/2009):
- Improvements for a smoother animation of the cube.
- Supports German language
Version 1.2.0 (5/23/2009)
- Supports Dutch language.
- After exiting the game by pressing the ‘Home’ key and then returning to the game hours or days later, the state/progress was not saved. This has been fixed.
New version:
Version 1.3.0 (6/15/2009):
- Trackball is now support for rotating the Gube.
New version:
Version 1.3.1 (7/17/2009):
Sometimes the cube did not draw at all when the user closes the menu and moves to the main game screen. Touching the screen or trackball made the cube appear again, but the bug is still quite annoying. This bug has now been fixed.
It’s a cool app but still better having the “cube” in hand!
You’re correct.
However, it’s the same with Golf games, racing games, etc. They don’t replace the real experience.
But the electronic version of the cube will allow you play it when you don’t carry around a real cube and to play it without annoying other people (no sound
).
New version:
Version 1.4.4 (1/12/2010):
- The Gube now runs correctly on the Nexus One.
just tried it out and actually think it is a good representation of the rubik’s cube. good job.
