After countless missed release dates for the Android 2.1 update 1 release for the HTC Hero, a leaked version has made its way on the Internet. According to AndroidPolice.com the hackers at XDA Developers forum have done it again by leaking the Android 2.1 ROM for the HTC Hero. The kinds folks over at XO Skins gave us some skins to try out on various models of Android phones and we’ve left 1 over to give away to a loyal reader. The skins are clear protective overlays to cover most of your phones’ surface to protect against nicks and scratches. You can see in this video how well they work. While launching the praised Motorola DROID, Verizon also launched the HTC Droid Eris (HTC Hero) with HTC Sense user interface adding an awesome customization to the Android OS. The only drawback I noticed was that this phone debuted with Android version 1.5 while DROID debuted with 2.0 and all other network carriers are running 1.6. This means DROID Eris is lacking Quick Search Box, VPN, new version of Android Market, among other features. However it's noted that an over the air update will hit this phone soon! This phone does pack Motorola's MOTOBLUR social software like that of the Motorola Cliq T-Mobile recently launched.Read Full Article
