Many HTC DROID Eris owners are receiving the Android 2.1 update from Verizon while Samsung Moment owners have to manually download and install it from Sprint. Have you you been upgraded yet? HTC DROID Eris owners can rejoice as Verizon will be releasing the software update to Android 2.1 soon! However it comes at a cost as the update will Wipe your phone. So be sure to backup your information you may want to save like SMS text messages, call logs, apps, and contacts (try WaveSecure for SMS and call logs, try AppManager for apps, and your Gmail account automatically backs up Contacts). While launching the praised Motorola DROID, Verizon also launched the HTC Droid Eris (HTC Hero) with HTC Sense user interface adding an awesome customization to the Android OS. The only drawback I noticed was that this phone debuted with Android version 1.5 while DROID debuted with 2.0 and all other network carriers are running 1.6. This means DROID Eris is lacking Quick Search Box, VPN, new version of Android Market, among other features. However it's noted that an over the air update will hit this phone soon! This phone does pack Motorola's MOTOBLUR social software like that of the Motorola Cliq T-Mobile recently launched.Read Full Article
