We learned recently the DROID X was officially getting the Android 2.1 Froyo update and the goodies it will bring like Adobe Flash in the web browser, automatic app updates, improved Exchange support and more (for a complete list of what's new in Android 2.2 see here). Don't want to wait for the over-the-air update Verizon will be pushing out and install Android 2.2 Froyo on DROID X now... there's a simple way to get it. Simply go to Settings » About phone » System updates to download the 68MB update file to install. Please note: you need the stock DROID X 2.1 Eclair ROM in order to easily do this update. The phone packs a large 4.3 inch display and positioned for superior video capabilities including Blockbuster rentals with HD playback to TV via HDMI out and DLNA. Also comes with 8 megapixel HD camera with dual LED flash. Our prediction of Android 2.2 launch was off as it will launch with Android 2.1 with new custom MotoBlur (Android 2.2 Froyo and Flash update will come "later this summer").
