Based on Google's latest platform stats they release monthly showing the break down of the various versions of Android in the market worldwide, I would conclude Android tablets are not selling well at all accounting for 0.3% market share of Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) software for tablets. By our estimates this would be about 125,000 tablets sold in the first quarter of 2011, which puts it right on par with estimates of 100K a month ago by Deutsche Bank, reported by Business Insider. When you compare this to Apple's iPad 2 sales, which estimated first week sales between 350,000 to 400,000; the results are dismal.Read Full Article

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 joins the 7 inch and 10.1 inch models as Samsung's thinnest and lightest Android tablet running Android 3.0 Honeycomb sporting clean Touch Wiz 4.0 user experience. This model and 10.1 both get real tablet treatment in both form factor, hardware and software. Weighing in at only 16.6 ounces and 8.6mm thick; a hair thinner than Apple's iPad 2 by 0.2mm. The Consumer Electronics Association conducted a survey in Septemember of this year to see exactly what's on the wish list of consumers this holiday season. Turns out that not only are consumers spending more than they did last year but they will also spend the most this year than any other year that they have been keeping track of holiday spending. The CEA found that "consumers will spend $232 on CE (consumer electronic) gifts, up five percent from last year".Read Full Article

Looking at a few minimum recommendations when buying an Android Tablet discussed are: Android 3.0, Multi-Touch Support, Decent Pixel Resolution, Ample Internal Memory or Memory Card Slot, Fast Enough Processor, Camera, USB Port(s) and more. If you look at the market today, it would seem that an Android tablet is something yet to come. And while that is true for the most part, you can buy Android tablets as we speak from many sources. Sure, they may not be brand names, but the prices are attractive, and... they are available. The folks who make the Archos tablets based on Google's Android operating system have created AppsLib, an alternative market for downloading Android apps to the device will offer paid apps on August 2nd in addition to the 2,000+ free apps in their catalog. This is great news for owners of the devices as well as wireless carriers whom adopted Android outside of the U.S. and Europe that do not have access to paid applications as of yet.
