Sprint release an update from the HTC Evo on September 22nd (version 3.29.651.5) that included a few small features. On their support site, they only outline calendar and multiple gmail account sync fixes. Of course, the moment I saw the notification I jumped on the opportunity to download it. After the install, I notice the device's animations had become more fluid and faster. I downloaded the application called "FPS2D" to test the framerate which was originally blocked at 30 fps. We learned recently the DROID X was officially getting the Android 2.1 Froyo update and the goodies it will bring like Adobe Flash in the web browser, automatic app updates, improved Exchange support and more (for a complete list of what's new in Android 2.2 see here). Don't want to wait for the over-the-air update Verizon will be pushing out and install Android 2.2 Froyo on DROID X now... there's a simple way to get it. OK news and just plain sad news for Samsung Behold II owners who are running elder Android version 1.5 currently will only be able to receive the update to Android 1.6 (Donut) and no other future update. :( We've noticed Samsung drag their heels on updates and most phones are upgrading to Android 2.1 (Eclair) and we are on the cusp of Android 2.2 (Froyo) release.
