DROID RAZR brings the best the Motorola has to offer in smartphones. They've really thrown a lot of goodies at the Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) powered super phone. There is an excellent marriage of hardware and software; that said... lets dig in! Samsung Mobile has been named the #1 Android smartphone in the U.S. based on retail sales with their Galaxy S portfolio of phones tipping 3 million sold in the 3rd quarter. The Samsung Mesmerize (SCH-i500) is available with U.S. Cellular in stores and at uscellular.com for $199 with a two-year contract after an $80 mail-in rebate. This is the third U.S. Cellular Android smartphone, first to debut was Samsung Acclaim followed by HTC Desire, receiving raving reviews from customers. Not only is Sprint providing consumers with a choice on how their phone is skinned with Sprint ID, they are also making Android devices more affordable for anyone who doesn't want to buy a high-end device such as an Epic or Evo. Virgin Mobile announced today that it would begin offer their first Android handset for their no-contract nationwide plans starting this month. Remember a few weeks ago we reported that Virgin Mobile gave everyone a sneak peak on their Facebook page about offering the Intercept. This comes after earlier this summer Sprint also rolled out it's first Android handset for it's Boost Mobile service as well, the Motorola i1. It looks like Sprint is trying to reach it's pre-paid no-contract Android-aspiring customer base and tap into that unexplored market. Most of the major carriers offer pre-paid services but many don't offer Android devices to use on those plans.Read Full Article

We've done a hands-on review of the entry level smartphone available on Sprint's network that you can check out. Android is a hot topic everywhere in mobile, the consumer demand has caught up with Virgin Mobile and now they'll supply it.
