Google announced today the Android Market has more then 50,000 Android Apps. About a month ago in a profit report Google announced more than 38,000 Android Apps and we're seeing the rapid growth rate. In the past as we and every other user of the current Android Market has experienced major [Fail] in the experience. However in Google's preview of Android 2.2, there is a new Android Market coming to offer more than the iTunes-like experience we have been begging for. Why do we even want an iTunes-like app store experience, why not go beyond that for a Web experience? According to AndroLib.com, Google's Android Market has passed 50,000 Android Apps and counting! Just a few weeks ago they reported tipping over the 40,000 Android App marker. AndroLib stats and Google's stats tend to differ as Google airs on the lower side. Just recently Google officially announced breaking the 38,000 Android App barrier.Read Full Article

DoubleTwist, sdf, recently launched an iTunes-like desktop experience for Mac users to search Google's Android Market. The biggest gripe there was that it only had a Mac version and no PC version. However recently we noticed they launched a Web-based version apps.doubletwist.com so all can browse the Android Market from the web.Read Full Article

DoubleTwist now offers a desktop version of Google's Android Market similar to iTunes despite Google not releasing something like this themselves. However there is currently only support for Mac and not Windows. Just a quick note about the new user interface changes in the Android Market when version 1.6 (Donut) releases. The UI is much better, plus they've added the ability to view up to 2 screenshots and promotional graphic. There are sorts by "Top Paid", "Top Free", and "Just In" Android apps.
