SwiftKey Keyboard Install

Meet the world’s smartest touchscreen keyboard for Android. SwiftKey Keyboard understands how words work together, giving much more accurate corrections and predictions than other keyboards. Very sloppy typing will magically make sense, even if you miss spaces, and SwiftKey 3 also predicts your next words.

AndroidTapp.com Android App Review:

Pros & Cons:

Pros

  • Awesome virtual keyboard that predicts the next word you’ll type as it learns you writing style.
  • Fast and convenient!

Features & Ease of Use:

SwiftKey Keyboard virtual keyboard that reads your mind and predicts the next word you want to type… Kidding :P Seriously, it’s damn near that! The app has artificial intelligence and learns your writing style, in time it mostly accurately predict the next word you want to type or a close variant (which appears in the left or right prediction word slots). The keyboard just makes typing easier. I’ve personally had a few golden moments when I could just tap the “Space” key as it would predict majority of my sentence. :D

Virtual keyboards are cool yet are difficult at times, when you have a keyboard that aims to help you type faster and more accurate it becomes invaluable and convenient. After using SwiftKey for a few weeks, take a trip to the phone’s Settings Menu » Language & keyboard » SwiftKet Settings » Usage Stats to see just how much more efficient the keyboard has made your typing!

Android Advice™ – How do I change my virtual keyboard?

Agreed, this is one amazing keyboard. All the clever GUI swipes and tricks and keyboard layouts in the world don’t seem to be able to hold a candle to a really awesome predictive algorithm. I’ve been using it since the beta and despite having to start over with the pay release it’s picked up my writing patterns very quickly. For some things, like common searches, I find myself starting the first word, then . Nice job guys.

Pity, the app asks for so many permissions. Why does it need to know my messages and phone calls?

I would have tried it otherwise.

It does not record them. It HAS to be able to see them to use them.

I’m guessing it needs to “know” your messages and your phone calls and everything else because every one of those applications has an input box, so technically it has access to the text within even if it doesn’t actually use it.

I am trying it out and like it quite a bit so far. I had been using Swype, but the accuracy has gotten so bad (I can’t take getting toy instead of you and “Tursday” instead of Tuesday… I guess there is an eighth, unknown day of the week), I have to give it up. (Shame as it was GREAT for a while.) So far Swift key is a nice alternative and pretty darn accurate.

I have been using the free trial for a week and so far I like it a lot. The keys are larger, easier to see, and I really like the long press which allows alternate characters to be used quickly. I’ll probably get the paid version when the trial expires — no idea when that’ll be.
