Super Drill Panic is a new take on the simple “dropping ball” genre games where you move your ball from left to right to make it navigate the horizontal bars that come floating up the screen… Our take on the game is an adventure full of twists and challenges. Falling blocks, walls blocking your path, lasers, razors, shooting arrows, power-ups, upgrades, levels to unlock and much much more… give it a try!

Features:
Super Drill Panic is an excellent boulder escape game for Android. In Super Drill Panic you play an Indiana Jones type of archeologist who is constantly exploring caves, stealing treasure, and setting off traps. The object of the game is to escape the boulder that chases you through each level, avoid the various death traps, and pick up coins and treasure along the way. It features touch and tilt controls, usable objects, 3 playable worlds, an arcade mode, and Open Feint support.
There are three playable worlds in Super Drill Panic. The Mayan Ruins, The Incan Ruins, and one other which I have not yet unlocked. In each world there are 5 different levels. The object of the game is to pick up as much treasure and coins as possible in each level while trying to escape the falling boulder. After you have survived through each level you are able to unlock other worlds, and after you have collected enough coins and treasure chests you are able to unlock other playable characters.
There are two options for controls; one is Tilt the other is Touch. I found neither control system to be particularly endearing. I found the touch control buttons to be too small to use correctly and so I would constantly become stuck by accidentally moving one of my fingers off of the on-screen buttons. With the Tilt controls I found that they were too difficult to operate with a satisfactory level of control. Hopefully OrangePixel will add support for physical controls and the Xperia Play in the future like on their other hit Meganoid.
After getting used to the controls enough so that I could make the game work I found it to be enjoyable. There are many pick-ups in the game which can be obtained in order to help you progress through a level faster. These include: a hammer, an hourglass, and running boots. The hammer allows you to destroy platforms beneath you in order to get through the level faster, the hour glass pauses the boulder and gives you more time to escape, and the running boots help your character to move faster. All of these items can also be purchased from the store at the level map and used during a level.
The Arcade mode is an endless mode for Super Drill Panic. Arcade Mode allows you to run forever to escape the boulder, plus be ranked on how long you can survive and how much loot you can obtain. This mode is a nice place to continue after you have completed the story mode.
Finally, Super Drill Panic features OpenFeint achievement system support. This allows you to compete against other players worldwide for the top ranking in every aspect. From coins collected to time survived; OpenFeint allows you to analyze and compare every aspect of your Super Drill Panic gameplay to others.

Super Drill Panic Help
Fun Factor:
Super Drill Panic is extremely enjoyable to play, but strangely named; since I have not found a single instance in the game where the hero has or even sees a drill. LOL! This game brings tons of enjoyment and is very fast paced. The traps get harder and harder as you play and provide an extra challenge when you become more accustomed to the games dynamics.
The only thing that diminishes this game’s fun factor is that it does not offer enough alternate control schemes. The touch and tilt controls leave a lot to be desired and I would love to see hardware controls be supported in this game to provide the player with a more accurate and enjoyable control system. Hopefully, this is added in future updates.
Addictive:
Super Drill Panic is very addictive. The levels are well designed and require you to guide your character in unique ways which will provide a challenge for most gamers. The OpenFeint support and alternate characters grant a lot of extra challenges and content for those that wish to play this game constantly.
One thing I would prefer is more levels. The game is excellent and provides a lot of enjoyment, but reasonably a player could complete it in a few hours. I would like to see the developers add in more levels in order to provide more content for serious gamers and to increase the game’s addictive factor.
Graphics:
The graphics in Super Drill Panic are exactly what I would expect from any of OrangePixel’s games. They are displayed in an 8bit style that will appeal heavily to retro gamers like myself. For those who are accustomed to current console style graphics this game may not be for you.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
Super Drill Panic makes use of both the accelerometer and sound. The sounds are the typical retro style effects that we have become accustomed to with OrangePixel games. They will appeal to the retro gamer, but do not expect them to be of the same definition or clarity as games like Riptide GP or Roboto.
The accelerometer is used for some of the game’s controls and works well enough to get by, but could be tweaked to provide better performance. Perhaps a sliding scale for accelerometer sensitivity would improve this aspect of the gameplay.
