StreamFurious is very useful, it allows you to stream your favorite online radio station from Shoutcast and Icecast. One could consider it better than having FM/AM radio as you avoid annoying ads and drawn out talk from non-talk radio stations. StreamFurious in some respects can be used to beef up the music experience on Android!
StreamFurious comes with some predefined Internet radio stations, so at first glance it would seem like not much there, but tapp the Menu button to Search for a Shoutcast station you like… It plays and adds you your stations list. It couldn’t be more straight-forward.
StreamFurious plays Internet radio stations from Shoutcast/Icecast MP3 streams. Once it has buffered, you’re tuned right into the station’s music and the song title and artists name appears. The features are fairly simple now, you can Pause/Play music and Search for new stations on the mobile browser. Even if you get a phone call while streaming music, it pauses and resumes right after.
We took a few days to use and evaluate this app, a few feature enhancements we would recommend is to Pause the music when the Internet stream is dropped/interrupted and hold it in the status bar. For example, browsing the Web and streaming music on 3G would drop the stream because the two services are sharing the bandwidth. So you have to open the app back up and resume playing, more annoying than anything. If the status were held in the Status Bar, you could easily draw the window shade and resume playing (or even better if it automatically played for you when it buffered enough).
A personal peeve… would like to see the stream data counter improved; shown as (953,825 bytes 931.46 kb 0.90mb) the status bar or loader graphic would be cooler. Brings back memories of Flash 5 days when techie byte counters were in.
What’s cool about the StreamFurious team is how they keep their ear to the street and listen to users regarding feedback. If you have a feature enhancement recommendation or bug, report it in their Feedback site.
In our evaluation, we added the Internet radio station 1POWER in HD , which was Awesome! They kept streaming non-stop hit Hip-Hop and R&B songs in very good audio quality. (Definitely worth a shoutout)
This app can qualify as a daily use app. Especially if you get tired of your own music library and need/want a continuous stream of music or talk radio.
The Interface is very simple, the Internet radio stations are in a ListView for easy scrolling. Don’t forget to press the Menu button for the Search option.

Love this app. Period. As a winamp user from waaaaay back in the day (it’s the ONLY audio player for me), I was thrilled to find this. I have used shoutcast stations to find new artists for years.
I’m not really one to load mp3′s on my phone, as I don’t even have good reason to carry my personal mp3 player around other than hijacking the stereo from friends with either no taste in music, or to show the ones that do something new.
I live in a car town, so no bus or train rides to jam out and pass the time.
I DL’d this on two days ago and have since been rolling around in my car with my headphones on listening to whatever I like. The review above points out good room for improvement, but overall this is now my favorite application to date.
Stream Furious is an excellent app to get access to the radio stations that you want to hear. This app is just like having a pocket transistor radio in your pocket. Also I believe that many radio stations need to support the mp3, pls format. If they don’t please call them up to support these formats. I believe that Stream Furious will one day be added to our car radios to listen to radio stations from all over the world. This app is an open source, so we need more programmers to get more formats and upgrades. The FCC should require that all licensed radio stations broadcast in the mp3 and pls
formats for civil emergencies and natural disasters and more coverage where the AM, FM ,Shortwave, Long wave radio cannot reach . You can even hear these stations in a shielded area such as a shopping mall or grocery store, places that FM and AM radios cannot pick up these signals unless you are at home or outside. This is good for people who are working and need coverage that AM, FM , and LW, and SW cannot reach due to interference and obstructions.
This app really lacks many things, and seems that development on this application has stopped… I think there are better applications out there… i.e. DroidLive…
@Sergio, no, they are still pushing updates on the Market. DroidLive is equally horrible in constant drops and little re-tries – even when wifi comes back in focus.
Can someone with this app please check to see if you can pick up the Radio Free Texas stream on shoutcast?
