These parties are said to have freebie giveaways, Stormtroopers, food, even a DJ! Here are the reported locations (Source: VerizonInsider):

The specs on the Droid 2 R2D2 appear to be the same as the original Droid 2 with the exception of the R2D2 version being shipped with Android 2.2. There has been some rumor that the R2D2 will sport a 1.2 GHZ processor although no confirmation has been made on that so far. The white exterior of the R2D2 definitely stands out from the original Droid 2. That’s not the only difference you’ll find. The new R2D2 version also includes:
- Custom boot-up sequence
- R2D2 soundboard
- Custom widgets
- Roth Enhancescan App
- Custom home screens and wallpapers
It was only a matter of time after acquiring the name “Droid” that this type of device would be introduced. Of course, the new Droid 2 R2D2 is exclusive on the Verizon network. Will you trade in your Android for a new R2D2?
UPDATE (2:20pm): Verizon Wireless has sent out an official press release on the new Droid 2 R2D2 that you can view here.
The price on the Droid 2 R2D2 has been set at $249 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement. The R2D2 will include the Star Wars Empire Strikes Back app on the device but Verizon customers can download the app in the Android Market on their Android 2.1+ devices.
