Sprint Nexus S 4G and Galaxy Nexus receiving Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update
Sep 11, 2012 9:48 AM –
If you’re on Sprint and have either a Nexus S 4G or Galaxy Nexus you should soon be seeing an alert to update your software, to latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. This update brings enhanced notifications, such as replying to an email or answering a call from the slide-down bar. Plus the keyboard offers improvements for better prediction of the next word and improved voice typing that is available even without an Internet connection. Then you’ll have access to the Google Now search and personal habits learning engine. On the homescreen, by sliding up the from the bottom or tapping the Search button you can either type or speak your searches and get back the appropriate actions or very accurate results (see just how it works.) My personal gripe is that you loose the ability to get Adobe Flash in the web browser as neither Adobe nor Google is supporting it from this version on. To learn of all the gooddies that were released in Jelly Bean, read here.
With Jelly Bean, Nexus S 4G and Galaxy Nexus join the growing list of phones with addedaccessibility features for those with disabilities. It allows the blind to use “Gesture Mode” toreliably navigate the UI using touch and swipe gestures in combination with speech output. It also adds accessibility plugin support for external Braille input and output devices usingBluetooth and USB.
