Sprint HTC Hero Android 2.1 update 1 Leaked

Sprint won’t so somebody will, I did and maybe you will too! After countless missed release dates for the Android 2.1 update 1 release for the HTC Hero, a leaked version has made its way on the Internet. The leak is named RUU_Hero_C_Sprint_2.27.651.5_R_signed_release and is said to have all the bells and whistles of an official ROM update.

We have heard reports that Sprint plans to release the ROM OTA (over the air) with a tentative date for official release scheduled for May 21st. I have flashed this ROM and its working perfectly and all the updates that comes with the new Sense UI are working like a charm. Hi I’m a noob. So I’ve downloaded the file but I don’t know how to install it. It would be greatly appreciated if u could tell me step by step. Thank you

  Glad too, all you would need to do is connect your Hero to your PC, and select the mount option. Then run the saved sprint leak from your pc and let it do its magic, You wont need to do anything with the phone its self, it’s very simple and should take around 10 minutes. Enjoy!!!   I am not completely sure about that, my first inclination is No, this update has a lot of sprint branded stock applications, as well as services that are ment to use on a CDMA network.

  There is no such thing as live walpapers promised on Hero. It’s too slugish for that.
  Although I really miss voice input thing.
  And another thing – this update unrootable yet. And it’s important.
  Asroot2 utility doesn’t work on it. I guess we have to wait until someone breaks it.
  I noticed that they didn’t fix the bug with apps quick search box – sometimes apps have been found, stay in the apps list and in order to get back all icons back, you need to restart Sense UI – it’s lil bit annoying.
  
  By and large it seems faster, turn-by-turn and goggles amazing, browser’s much better. I recommend this update to all Sprint Hero users.
  
  If they come up with any other changes in official OTA update, those changes won’t be significant.

The Sprint Hero is not the same as the european HTC Hero, and i guess france fall under the category “europe”

Seemed to work OK for me, but it reset the phone (expected) and everthing needed to be set up again.

Anybody remember what the trick is to get the hero to connect to a pop3 verizon.net server is? I remember there was a trick to it, just don’t remember what the trick was.

Okay here is the issue, i have the htc hero, i recently upgraded to the android 2.0 or whatever it is, and i love it except for this one proble m that nobody can help me with, i have been trying for the past 7 hours and theres nobody that seems to no how to use this software. When i go to search my contacts for an individual in my phonebook that is attached to my phone, it wants to to pull up facebook contacts as well….i dont need all of that i jjust want to search what is in my assigned contacts. okay when i compose a message and i need to search for..mmm well lets see i want to search for frank, it brings up my face book contactsa as well. Frank is not on facebook he is in my contacts which i only want to see. How can i resolve this because iit is really bugging me to death i could do it before i upgraded now i cant, it this is the issue i want to downgrade and give this phone back. please help me

  I believe you would need to un-sync your phone from Facebook. Settings > Accounts and Sync > Facebook > Remove Account. This also means you can’t link your contacts to any of their Facebook profiles. I think this will solve your problem.

Hey everybody. I have a normal HTC Hero, and a few hours ago i reached the 2.1 update. I have now installed it. But after reading this it sounds like the update that i got is for the Sprint Hero. Or is it the same update for both phones?
