Spelltower is a superb new word game that has made its way to Android after success on iOS. Link letters together Boggle-style in a large grid to accumulate the highest score you can. There are five modes of play including a multi-player mode, the game comes with a useful tutorial and features a gorgeously smooth interface that makes it a joy to play. If you’re a wordie, this is most definitely for you!

Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Great graphics!
- Lots of play modes!
- Challenging and strategic gameplay!
- Multi-player action!
Cons
- Perhaps could use some music.
Features:
Spelltower is a word puzzle game that sees you creating as many words as you can from a grid. You essentially drag your finger around the board building words- when you have completed the word those letters disappear. This allows for all kinds of play modes which include new rows of letters being added from the bottom, timed games and those where you only have the letters you start with (when you run out it’s game over). In each of these modes the scores are collected and displayed when you play next, so you can always see what score you have to beat.
I found the games I played to be massively strategic, you really have to think about what words to create to get the best scores. Some letters have to be part of a word which is of a certain length and will not work if they are embedded in shorter words, so this can limit your progress unless you find longer words to use. While gameplay reminded me of Boggle or, another game I’ve rediscovered an affection for Ruzzle and even similar in ways to Word Soup- but there is far more gameplay choice with Spelltower so, if you get bored of one mode, you can try another.
If you haven’t guessed already, I am a huge word game fan and have tried most of the popular titles in the Google Play Store. Spelltower wins big due to the variety of gameplay options you get, the immersive atmosphere the game generates and the challenging gameplay. I often found myself in tricky situations looking at the grid and trying to find a word that will take out enough squares to stop from losing. The satisfaction of finding such a word is fantastic.
Obviously word games are not for all gamers, but for fans of the genre or people that like to play little games while commuting, Spelltower is a top quality title that you should definitely check out, even if it does cost nearly $2.

Fun Factor:
If you enjoy finding words in large grids; perhaps a die-hard word game fan or even someone who enjoys the odd word search, this is definitely a game you’ll enjoy playing. The gameplay is wonderfully simple and it’s very easy to get into a play.
Addictive:
Putting Spelltower down is a real test of resolve and this has been a game I have played on almost a daily basis since I downloaded it. The game saves the exact point you got up to previously, so you can even play different modes and simply comeback to your last point at any time. This means it can easily be treated as a casual games that’s great to play, even if you only have a 5 minutes to do so.
Graphics:
It’s immaculately designed and the game board and navigation are remarkably crisp and beautiful. I think there’s flush elements of Holo and Window’s Metro styling blended together which looks really good and extremely well polished.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
Accelerometer and vibration are non-existent in the game and they just wouldn’t work anyway. The sound is essentially subtle in game clicks and beeps which is nice, but you kinda wish there was more.
