SpeedTest.net Android App is great for benchmarking the speed of your mobile network to find the average download and upload speed (benchmarking the speed of your Internet connection for desktops and laptop too).

Personally I’m impressed at the speeds I get from T-Mobile’s network in all areas of Chicago and suburbs. I rarely have 3G issues, and when I do slip onto 2G or Edge, I don’t notice a huge difference unless it’s a game like Cestos or Texas Hold’em Online that needs 3G or Wifi to keep up. Technology is a wonder, as I ponder a few years back when I had AT&T’s DSL service, I had speeds comparable to these and this is a mobile network initially not intended for this use.

Usefulness & Frequently Used:

SpeedTest.net is more useful to us tech-heads who especially want to show off our speed to iPhoners plagued by AT&T’s spotty 3G network.
