SoundHound Inc. launched “Hound” — a streamlined, stand-alone voice-search application that lets users find a song, artist or band by saying it.
Now available as a free application to users on Apple iOS and Android devices, Hound allows users to speak the name of a band, artist or song and get instant results that show an artist page, complete with previews of top songs, lyrics, videos, sharing features and more. It uses a proprietary voice search technology and is designed to deliver fast, accurate results. According to company executives, subsequent versions of Hound will include expanded voice-search categories for a variety of tasks.
“Our vision is to revolutionize the way people interact with their connected devices using sound and voice recognition,” said SoundHound Inc. CEO Keyvan Mohajer. “The day is coming when voice, not touch, will be the primary means of human-machine interaction. People will increasingly speak to their cell phones, computers and cars. We’re going to be part of that revolution, and this first version of Hound is our starting point. Once a person hounds for music, they will never go back to typing for it.”
