AndroidTapp.com Review:

Usefulness:

Shazam for Android is one of the most useful & coolest apps you can find. It delivers functionality better on mobile than on a desktop. I absolutely fell in love with the app when seeing it on the Apple iPhone TV Commercial; an app powerful enough to listen to music and tell you what song it is… uncanny!

Ease of Use:

Couldn’t be more simple: Launch App, Listen, It Tags… (If it doesn’t, chances are they’ll be adding it soon. Shazam recently added over 2 million songs to its library)

Features:

Shazam has 2 main features: Tag Now and My Tags. Tag Now allows you to easily listen to a song and it returns the song name, artist, album, record label, artist MySpace page, link to buy the song/album in Amazon’s MP3 store, and YouTube video (if available). How cool is that!?!. My Tags shows a list of songs you’ve tagged for revisiting later. (You can delete Tags as well)

One little thing we noticed about Shazam, you can swipe left/right in My Tags to go to the next/previous songs. Earned a permanent spot on my home screen!

Frequently Used:

I find myself having my G1 ready when watching prime time TV shows, they play a lot of new and interesting songs and this a great way to test Shazam. The other night I was watching Grey’s Anatomy and faintly heard what I thought was Kayne West singing with the Auto-Tune at a poignant moment in the show. Launched Shazam, listened, sure enough… it was! Kayne’s Street Lights.

Interface:

The user interface is slick and easy to use. Likes the wet floor graphics on black   The “listening” circular motion graphic is cool too!

Curious why you say it’s “Hard”??? This could’nt be one of the easiest Android Apps.

You literally, Launch, Listen, Get Results…

    Awesome app. I love it.

  4. j says:

hahaha “hard” is slang for “cool”

I wish I could queue music fingerprints when I’m not online and get the results later. Now, it says “Can’t find it” and throws away the data when it can’t reach its servers. It should instead say “I can’t call home, but I saved the sound and will try later, if you want.”

I think it’s an awesome app. Though, it doesn’t find about half the songs that I’ve tried to tag. Though, like you mention, they keep adding songs to their database. I think it may be a connection issue sometimes also. But, all in all, it’s really cool. It’s another app where I can impress my buddies with.

  7. Fawad says:

Probably the app I am impressed with the most.

  8. TFantasy says:

yeah, it barely takes up any space too…

  9. ClayG says:

I wish it would work for new Motorola Droid. But it doesn’t work. It immediately says “sorry, try again?” when you attempt to Tag Now.

I tried to do a Caribbean artist song and it failed miserably. It actually is a pretty good app truth be told.

So useful and so accurate. Brilliant!

Nice app with good functionality, one of my faves already and I’ve only had the Droid for a week.

I wish they had a feature where you could email yourself the tag list. Most other Android apps have this function. Ughh!
