Pros
Cons
Shazam for Android is one of the most useful & coolest apps you can find. It delivers functionality better on mobile than on a desktop. I absolutely fell in love with the app when seeing it on the Apple iPhone TV Commercial; an app powerful enough to listen to music and tell you what song it is… uncanny!
Couldn’t be more simple: Launch App, Listen, It Tags… (If it doesn’t, chances are they’ll be adding it soon. Shazam recently added over 2 million songs to its library)
Shazam has 2 main features: Tag Now and My Tags. Tag Now allows you to easily listen to a song and it returns the song name, artist, album, record label, artist MySpace page, link to buy the song/album in Amazon’s MP3 store, and YouTube video (if available). How cool is that!?!. My Tags shows a list of songs you’ve tagged for revisiting later. (You can delete Tags as well)
Shazam introduced Shazam Encore learn more about the differences in the free and paid versions. If you like this app you’ll also like SoundHound.
I find myself having my G1 ready when watching prime time TV shows, they play a lot of new and interesting songs and this a great way to test Shazam. The other night I was watching Grey’s Anatomy and faintly heard what I thought was Kayne West singing with the Auto-Tune at a poignant moment in the show. Launched Shazam, listened, sure enough… it was! Kayne’s Street Lights.
The user interface is slick and easy to use. Likes the wet floor graphics on black
The “listening” circular motion graphic is cool too!

DIS SHIT HAAAAAAAAAAAARD!!!!!!!!!
what is that suppose to mean speak English not Ebonics
Curious why you say it’s “Hard”??? This could’nt be one of the easiest Android Apps.
You literally, Launch, Listen, Get Results…
I think they meant it’s “cool” when they said it’s “hard”, not it’s hard to use
Awesome app. I love it.
hahaha “hard” is slang for “cool”
I wish I could queue music fingerprints when I’m not online and get the results later. Now, it says “Can’t find it” and throws away the data when it can’t reach its servers. It should instead say “I can’t call home, but I saved the sound and will try later, if you want.”
I think it’s an awesome app. Though, it doesn’t find about half the songs that I’ve tried to tag. Though, like you mention, they keep adding songs to their database. I think it may be a connection issue sometimes also. But, all in all, it’s really cool. It’s another app where I can impress my buddies with.
Probably the app I am impressed with the most.
yeah, it barely takes up any space too…
I wish it would work for new Motorola Droid. But it doesn’t work. It immediately says “sorry, try again?” when you attempt to Tag Now.
I tried to do a Caribbean artist song and it failed miserably. It actually is a pretty good app truth be told.
So useful and so accurate. Brilliant!
Nice app with good functionality, one of my faves already and I’ve only had the Droid for a week.
I wish they had a feature where you could email yourself the tag list. Most other Android apps have this function. Ughh!
This is truly one of the most used apps I’ve ever downloaded! I use this app daily and am amazed by it’s accuracy!
HTC Hero user
I used this app on my nokia phone.. now im gonna use it on my android phone
COOL! for me it detects most popular names. some it dosnt but a lot of them it does
:D:D:D
it says to scan that barcoad when you click download… does anyone know exactly how to do this? just got my backflip today and i still havent completely figured it out lol
We offer 2 ways to quick link to apps in the Android Market:
1. If you have Barcode Scanner or ShopSavvy already installed, use either to scan the QR Codes above the “Download” links
2. If you visit the same page on your Android phone you can just click “Download” to go to the Market and download the app.
Geez, it’s apps like this that make me realize how far we’ve really come. It’s really amazing what this can do. Plus saying “Shazam” is really fun. SHAZAM!
Disappointed that it is not better integrated with Amazon. Should be able just to click and have Amazon do the rest rather than go through the web site from the browser.
Amazon could make a killing with this app with a simple “Buy this” button. They should cut a deal or buy Shazam outright.
Shazam’s ok, but SOUNDHOUND is far superior, faster, and has a better UI.
