Shazam Music Discovery App Goes Premium, Launches Shazam Encore

Shazam will be launching Shazam Encore for Android users to offer a premium service model in addition to the free service with limited options in discovering music on mobile phones. If you don’t know what Shazam app does you should keep out our Android app review of Shazam; the app listens to music and can tell you what song is playing along with other information like artist MySpace page, tour dates, song YouTube videos, and possible to purchase tracks via Amazon MP3 store.

Until today Shazam app used to be totally free but Encore with split out service offerings. We can tell you now Shazam is one of those must-have apps that’s even worth paying for. Why… it’s made it into practically every one of our best Android apps list.

Shazam Encore Key Features:

Shazam’s premium app, Shazam Encore, is available in the Android Market and priced at $4.99, €3.99 and £2.99 (use the QR bar codes we’ve included above to download it).

• Unlimited tagging
• Recommendations – further enhancing a user’s music collection by introducing them to other music similar to the track that’s been tagged.
• Shazam users in the U.S.
• Shazam users in the US can also directly access Pandora through Shazam Encore to listen to a station from their Tags.

Shazam Freemium Key Feature Changes:

• Android users opting to download the Shazam free version will receive a seven day premium trial, followed by the option to upgrade to Shazam Encore or have five tags a month thereafter.
• Any existing Shazam users (up to 7/13/10), who upgrade to version 2.0 of the Shazam app will be able to enjoy all the new features, without tagging limitations.
