Features:
Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack is a side scrolling suicide platformer for iOS & Android! What the heck is a side scrolling suicide platformer? Read on and you’ll find out! Serious Sam features side scrolling suicide action, multiple heads for your headless kamikaze, trackable in-game statistics, bonus missions, an endless mode, and OpenFeint support.
In Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack you are a headless kamikaze with one mission. To die and take Serious Sam with you!!! Your goal is to run through each level performing bonus missions, avoiding a premature explosion, and destroying Serious Sam!
As the headless kamikaze you are able to perform three maneuvers: the jump, the double jump, and the kick. The game plays as a side scroller with the kamikaze always running with Sam right in front of him. In order to cause the kamikaze to jump the player taps on the left side of the screen, to go into a sliding kick the player must tap on the right side of the screen. There will be various animals, objects, and missiles that the kamikaze will have to kick through in order to complete each level and to finish bonus missions.
As you steamroll through each level the kamikaze’s rage bar will begin to fill up. With each attack the rage bar jumps up in about 15% increments per attack. When your rage bar fills up the kamikaze explodes prematurely and wastes one of his three live. As you maneuver through the level you can collect items which provide you with extra lives, slow motion, and reduces your rage to nothing. This allows you to make it through some of the more challenging levels in the game while retaining the possibility of making it through the level without exploding.
When you progress farther into the game more exciting challenges ensue. I loved playing the game and having to kick missiles at Sam from behind in order to try to cause him to explode before I reached him for a bonus mission. I had to jump into the air and kick missiles away or slide on the ground to hit a low flying grenade. If I miss timed my slide the explosive would hit me and instantly one life would be gone.
Serious Sam: Kamikaze attack also supports OpenFeint so for each step in the game you will unlock more and more achievements and be able to compete globally with other players. There are many achievements strewn throughout the game and many small unlockables are provided throughout the levels.
One of the most fun and goofy aspects of the game are the unlockable heads for the Kamikaze. You are able to buy heads for him with gravy; and gravy is obtained by visiting the links and applications of the game’s sponsors. I loved putting the Einstein and Zombie heads on the Kamikaze and chasing Sam throughout each of the levels.
Finally, in the Endless Mode you are attempting to score as many points as possible without dying. In this mode you are unable to catch the elusive Sam, but must instead attempt to stack up points by performing the various bonus missions that you learned while playing single player. This setting allows for hours of enjoyment even after the standard missions are completed and a second Endless Mode can be unlocked during game play.

Fun Factor:
Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack is an enjoyable game despite its simple concept and lack of multi-player options. The gameplay starts off as extremely easy and makes you feel like the it will not be a challenge at all, but as you progress further and further through the missions you realize that this is not the case. The farther you progress through the game the more difficult all of the bonus missions become plus the more obstacles you will need to fight through to destroy Serious Sam.
OpenFeint achievement system support and unlockable add-ons also ensure that you will continue to play this game for longer than you initially intended by challenging you to complete difficult maneuvers in order to unlock new content. The developers of this game did an excellent job making sure that this would be a game that you would feel the need to come back to.
Addictive:
Serious Sam definitely has an addictive side to it. OpenFeint support, Unlockables, and Bonus missions ensure that you will continue to play this game more than you originally planned.
One feature that could be added in the future would be a endless mode with a role reversal. Where Serious Sam is blowing through side scrolling waves of kamikazes. This would ensure that fans of the series who had already beaten the single player missions would find a new and addicting experience unlocked through spending more time within the game.
Graphics:
The graphics for Serious Sam Kamikaze are excellent and are on par with hits like Battleheart and ZombieVille USA. All of the art is painstakingly designed to draw you in to the comical and dangerous universe of Serious Sam and the death animations for the kamikaze and Sam are nothing short of epic.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
It makes no use of either the phone’s accelerometer nor its capabilities for vibration/haptic feedback. Instead the game makes up for this lack with an epic soundtrack. Serious Sam has hilarious sound effects from the Title Screen to the kamikaze explosions and music that feeds straight in to the game’s environment. This game is definitely one of the better made platformers for Android.
