AndroidTapp.com Android Game Review:

Pros & Cons:

Pros

  • Easy to learn and fun to play!
  • 5 different difficulty levels to challenge you!
  • “Solve It” feature to help you figure out a level when you get stuck!
  • Open source application!
  • High score board keeps track of the time it takes you to solve the puzzle and the number of clicks it took you to do it!

Cons

  • Graphics are extremely plain.
  • No OpenFeint support.

Features:

Scrambled Net is a Sudoku like puzzle game. In the game your job is to connect circuits together so that all of the terminals receive power at the same time. Scrambled Net is open source and free to download. It also features several different difficulties ranging from novice to insane.

In Novice mode the game takes place on a 5 tile by 6 tile grid. In order to play you have to rotate each tile to position it to connect with the main line and other terminals. In order to rotate a tile you merely need to click on the tile you wish to rotate until it is in the position you want. The puzzles were not too difficult in this mode once you became used to the game play.

One of the nice features about this game is that it records the time it takes you to complete the puzzle. It also records the number of clicks it takes you to finish the puzzle so you can continue to challenge yourself as you play the game, and so you can measure your progress as you play through the game.

As you move to higher levels of difficulty in the game the board becomes larger. In expert mode the grid is 10 tiles by 7 tiles, and in Insane mode the grid is 11 tiles by 7 tiles. If you get stuck on one of the game boards you can utilize the “Solve It” feature to see how each tile needs to be rotated in order to solve the puzzle.

Scrambled Net also has a high score board which allows you to see previous high scores so you can compete with yourself and with your friends. It has two separate score boards: one for fastest time solved and one for fewest clicks. This allows you to see and improve your scores in both aspects of the game.

Fun Factor:

Scrambled Net is fun to play and easy to learn. It is particularly enjoyable for individuals who enjoy puzzle games like Sudoku, Crosswords, and Word Searches.

Addictive:

This game can become addictive due to the large variety of puzzles. It allows to continually challenge yourself with various grids and difficulties and the measure your successes with the high score board. The puzzles are mentally stimulating and will keep you coming back for more.

Graphics:

The graphics for Scrambled Net are not very impressive. They allow for smooth gameplay on all devices, but even with a lot of upgrades to the graphics this simple game would stay play on any device. Does it need a graphical overhaul to make the game fun? No, it is fun as it is; but it would certainly help the game to stand out significantly amongst its competitors.

Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:

Scrambled Net allows you to utilize the accelerometer in order to view the puzzle in both portrait and landscape mode. This is a pleasant surprise because many games for Android like WordFeud or Words with Friends only support playing in portrait mode. Being able to play this game in landscape makes it much more tablet friendly then competitors.

The game does make use of sound effects, but does not include a soundtrack. This seems appropriate since most puzzle games like Sudoku do not feature musical tracks in the game. The sound effects that were included in the game were basic and appropriate.

No use of vibration was made in this game, nor was any needed.

One of my all time favourites :-)
Just wish it didn’t lose game state if phone rebooted (and sometimes at other times), this stops me using INSANE mode and wish you could choose the grid size yourself.
