Scout, daily personal navigator, now available for Android & Ford cars

TeleNav launched its daily personal navigator app for Android, Scout, that helps navigate you to places to go including arrival times, traffic conditions and even suggestions on what to do upon arrival. Additionally, if you have Ford SYNC in your car, you can get access to this smartphone app via SYNC AppLink to provide hands-free, voice-activated access to local search, gas prices, directions and more to reduce distractions while driving.

The app is free to download which includes voice and on-screen turn by turn GPS navigation, local search, traffic information, speech recognition, and automatic rerouting. Scout for Android is a freemium app with a 30 day free trial of premium features which include speed traps, traffic camera, lane assist and access to Car Connect. The premium services are priced more than double the iPhone services; at $4.99 per month and $24.99 per year- I’m interested in seeing how well this holds up for Android folks who are used to many of these features free in a cumbersome combination of other apps.
