Scanner Radio allows you to listen to live audio from over 2,300 police and fire scanners, railroad communications, and weather radio broadcasts from around the world (with more being added daily). Audio is provided by volunteers, see the menu in the app for information on how to get your area added. Be sure to follow @ScannerRadio on Twitter to keep up with the latest information.

Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Receives great quality transmissions over 3G connection with minimal breaks (Even better on 4G/Wifi)
- Can geo-locate scanners based on your area
- Allows user to be alerted when certain channel reaches a user-configured number of listeners
- Provides details on the frequencies monitored on each channel
Cons
- Limited channels since the feeds are volunteer driven
- Some feeds listed may not work while others are more reliable
Features & Ease Of Use:
For any radio enthusiast, this a great app to have installed on your device. Using your 3G, 4G, or wifi connection you can listen to radio transmissions happening in your area or all over the country. The best thing about it is that you don’t even need to know the frequencies in order to use Scanner Radio. You can chat with other listeners via chat room, set your favorite channels for easy access, or configure alerts to let you know when a certain channel gets “hot” with a set number of listeners. The sound quality is excellent and haven’t had any issues connection to any channel so far throughout my experience. The UI allows you easy access to the top 50 scanners or browse my area, genre, or source.
The Pro version of this app is actually just a “key” to unlock a few features such as removing ads and activating player control on widgets as well as the top of the directory screen. You must have the free version installed for the Pro “key” to work correctly.
Usefulness:
If your a radio buff or just happen to be the curious neighbor, this could prove to be useful to keep up with current events around the world. Why wait for the news when you can just listen to the radio communications right now?
