Want to know who’s calling? This app will tell you! The app reads the name saved in your adress book and tells you who’s calling. You will be prompted to install TTS.*

Price: Free

AndroidTapp.com Android App Review:

Features:

SayMyName is a simple application that speaks the name of the person calling.  It uses Text-To-Speech Library to call out a name during a phone call.

Gripe Alert: The voice however tends to be lower than the ringtone, so hearing it could be a challenge at times. Also, since this app uses TTS, you get the robotic sounding voice (funny to hear it pronounce uncommon names though). Lastly, the app will only speak the names of those listed in your Contacts.

Usefulness:

SayMyName Android App can be useful to when trying to avoid or anticipate a caller, as the app says the name of the caller, thus you can avoid whipping the phone out.

Ease of Use:

The only hiccup is the required install of Text-To-Speech as a separate download… other than that it’s simple and straight-forward.

Frequently Used:

If used, SayMyName Android App will fire off with our every incoming call (provided the caller is in your Contacts).

Thanks for reviewing my app :)
    I can´t describe it better ;)

    Some additional info:

    - There is now a video of the app:

    - Since SayMyName 2.2, there is a Locale Plug-in, which allows to control SayMyName dependent on your place, time and other things.

There are also new updates in the pipe.

I love the concept but could not get the program to over ride the ringtones on the Motorola Droid. Ended up uninstalling the program.

      Hello,

You can click on “Silent ringtone” in my app and SayMyName speaks alone. No ringtone :)

Give it a second try ;)

      Thanks
      Tom

That’s what I do, and it’s great that way (same with for text messages–I’d rather hear who’s calling from SayMyName than just that someone is calling from the ring tone)

  3. Reddy says:

I love your app. The donation system confused me a little, mostly because the end of the app name is cut off in the portrait view in market. I’ve got it now. The donate app is just a token. Keep it installed for 24 hours so the dev gets paid!

    • Reddy says:

One gripe, it keeps saying the name even after you press the volume key to silence the ringer. It’s kind of awkward when the robot voice keeps calling out the callers name.

  4. Q says:

    Hello!
This application was the greatest thing since sliced bread…until it stopped working…I did not realize how much I relied on it until I lost it. Thank you for making this app.
FYI – I switched SD cards so I just uninstalled and reinstalled it and fixed the issue. Thank you!
