Samsung released a TV remote Android app for Samsung Galaxy S smartphone and Galaxy Tab as a TV remote in lieu of the traditional TV remote. Samsung TV Remote and Samsung TV Remote-Tab apps uses Wi-Fi to connect with the Samsung TV’s.

You can use the remote’s on-screen QWERTY keyboard to input necessary information for TV functions, control settings and Samsung Apps on the TV
A 4-way directional pad makes it easier to navigate apps
The application is compatible with a broad variety of 2010 models, including the LED C6500 series and higher, the LCD C650 series and higher, and the Plasma C6500 series and higher. It will also support select 2011 smart TVs.

Only works on Samsung phone (Galaxy S for now): huge fail from Samsung.

I have a cam corder, a TV and a blueray player from Samsung, but apparently I was wrong when I choosed a HTC Desire ? Nah, it is Samsung that had a bad idea developping this app.

I have rooted htc desire and this does not work. Very bad call from Samsung if it will only work on a Samsung phone… Surely it shouldn’t be called an app for Android then should it…?? False advertisement!

The app doesn’t work with my new samsung 6300 tv or 6500 bluray player. samsung support, upper level support and executive support know nothing and all just transfer you back and forth to each other. Nice.

In the app description it clearly states that the app will work with any Samsung TV that has Samsung Internet@TV for 2010. This is not true. I called Samsung and they said that if a TV or BD or whatever has a “C” in the model number, it cannot be controlled by your phone. The “C” means it is a model from 2010 and 2010 models cannot be controlled by a cell phone. You can connect a cell phone to the same network and share files. But you cannot control the TV or BD.
I might go buy a Galaxy today though to test this out.

  not 100% true. I use a samsung galaxy s2 (with the samsung remote app installed) and I have a UE40C6510 samsung tv and it works flawlessly.

    I picked up the galaxy s2. Downloaded the app. It does not work with my model of TV or BR. I wrestled with it for an hour or so then blew another couple hours IM’ing in circles with samsung’s tech support.

Doesn’t work on my HTC Desire S; It does work on a iphone in my network on my TV. so the bottleneck is my ANDROID HTC phone! Is ther a solution??? update fot the app ??

I had iPhone & it was compatibe with it. I am not able to dowload this app on samsung’s own S3. Weired.
