Meet the new Samsung Galaxy S IV

Samsung Galaxy S IV was officially announced to succeed the super popular and successful Galaxy S3. Though to some disappointment it closely resembles the predecessor and Note 2, it is much faster, more feature packed with a slightly larger and full HD screen. See how it stacks up against other fav smartphones; Apple’s iPhone 5 and Google’s Nexus 4. We’re told it will be available in Q2 on most every major wireless carrier and pricing is still forthcoming.
Let’s get into the nerd stuff… It launches with Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), has a beautiful massive near edge-to-edge five inch (4.99-inches to be exact) full HD Super AMOLED screen (at 1920×1080, 441ppi resolution), in the U.S. it will have a 1.8GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor and the International version will have Samsung’s own 1.8GHz quad-core Exynos 5 Octa processor, 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and 2-megapixel front-facing camera, available in 16, 32GB and 64GB models plus you can expand with the microSD slot (up to 64GB), powered by 2,600mAh battery. It’s available in black mist and white frost colors.

New Smart Features
I wasn’t fan of the smart gesture features of the S3, however, Samsung seems to expand on these gestures and here’s the breakdown of them:
Dual Camera
Shoot video with rear and add yourself with the front camera to the video (something I’ve love- or other Dads as we’re the ones taking the video and never in the actual videos.) You can record audio with your photos to further enhance your photo experiences when shared. Other features include the drama shot and eraser, which allows you to ‘erase out’ people or objects from a photo- I wonder how well this will work in real practical uses.
S Translator
Portrayed as a real-time and accurate translator. It understands up to 10 languages, supports text to speech and vice versa.
Air Gesture
A floating touch, which is AirView like with the S Pen on the Note 2 and Galaxy Note 10.1, which allow you to reveal more hidden information by hovering your finger about a quarter inch over the screen (see Air View in action). Even answer a call by waving your hand.
Story Album
An automatic album creating function, which you choose from pre-defined album designs to flip through photos with tag information. In a partnership with Blurb, you can print and ship a photo album to loved ones.
S Voice Drive
Hands-free access to services drivers frequently need; calling, messaging, navigation, etc. (sounds like Vlingo).
Group Play
This is a feature that takes cues from AllShare Play, which allow multiple phones to share music to create a virtual surround sound system among friends whether you have an internet connection or not. It also extends to photos and docs too.
Smart Scroll/Pause
If you’re watching a video and look away the video will pause (I foresee an annoying disaster with the feature). When reading, tilt phone slightly up or down to scroll the page.
S Health
Offers a suite of health monitoring metrics to collect your data to turn into an easy to read report. Set to compete against other players like FitBit, there will be Bluetooth accessories to sync up to later on.
