Run Fatty Run is a roly-poly running game that’s different. While it features many of the gesture-based gameplay of popular titles like I Must Run! and Temple Run, the games protagonist isn’t a lean escaped prisoner or a energetic archaeologist. Instead you control Bert, a rotund and magnificently flabby fat man. Due to a draconian government initiative to combat obesity, Bert must escape the clutches of a live tiger to get himself fit. With lots of humour, intuitive controls and impressive 3D graphics, the game is loads of fun and the perfect foil to Olympic fever.

Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Nice graphics!
- Simple controls!
- Great music!
- Lots of humour!
Cons
- Might feel a little repetitive after a while.
Features:
Bert is unhappy. His government have brought in a brutal way for its obese citizens to get fit; they have to run away from loose tigers! Bert is not a healthy man. His rotund shape betrays a clear love of fatty and sugary foods, meaning now Bert has to run and get fit to save his life. The game blends the gesture controls you get with popular running games mentioned above, with the tap-to-run gameplay reminiscent of retro games like Track & Field. While running is Bert’s main defence, as gameplay goes on he can also barge through obstacles, roll down hills and body-slam objects out of the way.

Run Fatty Run - Avoid temptation
The game is full of humour and offers plenty of dead pan smiles throughout. My favourites included “Bert has succumbed to the natural order and been eaten by a tiger” and (after being eaten) “Bert is developing a low opinion of public health care”. It’s fun and often means losing a level brings its own small rewards. Like sugary foods though, gameplay is quite addictive. You’ll want to try again and again to beat the tiger so it’s difficult to put down.
Bert has to battle willpower throughout each level, with the likes of pizza and donuts littering the way before him. He must avoid these at all costs and they really slow him down. If he can avoid three such temptations he’s rewarded with a bonus burst of speed which really helps him escape the ferocious tiger.

Fun Factor:
Like Bert’s shorts bursts of speed, the game is definitely a short burst of fun. Levels are very short but enjoyable. It definitely feels like a casual game you pick up and play occasionally as it does feels a little repetitive after lengthy gameplay. But with the various controls, funny characters and grisly humour, the game is overall enjoyable and rewarding.
Addictive:
Yes, very addictive. As mentioned, levels are short so you always feel the need to play ‘just one more’. Likewise, when you succumb to the tigers claws, you want to have another go to beat it. It becomes very compulsive in no time at all. The only thing that drags you away from the game is the fact that repetitious tapping gets a little boring after a while. Despite this, it still manages to be a game you pick up and try again later.
Graphics:
The graphics in Run Fatty Run are 3D and very smooth. There’s lots of animation and effects throughout, from other runners to the tigers final take-down of a fellow fatty. It’s not especially gory in anyway, when someone gets caught they are merely dragged away rather than being ripped apart and consumed!
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
There are various sound effects in the game, from the tigers roar to the crashes as you smash through obstacles. The music throughout is also really good, with different tracks for different screens.
