Royal Revolt! is an action strategy game where you manoeuvre troops to take down enemy structures, soldiers and castles. The game borrows gameplay techniques from various other titles but deploys them in an original and highly playable way. Easy to play, incredibly rewarding and featuring excellent graphics and sound, Royal Revolt! is brilliant fun and definitely worth checking out!

Features:
Royal Revolt! is a cute action/strategy game where you command a small army of soldiers, archers and more into battle. The aim of each level is to to destroy the enemy castle. To do so you must generate an army unit from your base and do battle with oncoming enemies. You slowly make your way to the castle taking down towers and avoiding traps as best as you can. Eventually you and enough of your army also arrive at the castle and you attack it until it collapses!
You move your hero (a Prince no less) by simply dragging your finger around the screen as he will promptly follow. Your men will follow as best as they can but are quickly distracted by enemies and action. You have additional powers; early on a healing one is useful as it heals your soldiers if they are within a certain distance from you. There’s also a fire power which quickly obliterates oncoming enemies and structures. One other power you have is one where you can quickly call your army towards you. This is useful when you’re building a strategy and need man-power close to you or when they badly need healing.
Royal Revolt! is immaculately simple to play and reminded me of a few different games that already exist- perhaps not in end product as it feels quite original in design, but there is a familiarity to other titles. For example, while gameplay is nothing like Muffin Knight, the graphics are certainly similar. Additionally, the way you build units and deploy them behind you is reminiscent of games like Defense Angel or Devil, Cartoon Wars or Shooting Warrior. Unlike all of these, however, the environments you play in are very much 3D which adds an entirely new element to the strategy.
The game is incredibly rewarding and fun to play. Levels get progressively tougher and you’ll need to deploy more skill and strategy and less reliance upon brute force and sheer soldier numbers. Units can be upgraded and you can buy additional skills and powers for use in-mission. The game is free to play but comes with optional in-app purchases to ‘help’ with your quests.

Fun Factor:
Royal Revolt! is loads of fun and I found myself very much immersed in it for quite a few missions. As a reviewer I have to be quite objective and often resist getting too engrossed as time is precious! However, I was smitten with Royal Revolt! as soon as I started playing. The gameplay, graphics and impressive sound create a superb game that is hugely enjoyable.
Addictive:
I think the missions start off quite easy, but then that drags you in and have you addicted so, when you take on a tougher level you already feel committed to try again if you at first fail. Add to this the sheer enjoyment of completing a level and you have a recipe for highly compulsive gaming.
Graphics:
The graphics are deeply impressive for the genre and genuine eye-candy. Think Muffin Knight in 3D and you’ll be close.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
The sound is very well produced and full of excellent effects. This is sound-tracked by a neat musical score which compliments the gameplay perfectly.
