Rocket Island is a graphically resplendent and highly addictive puzzle game for Android. Tap the hexagons on the island to upgrade them- ultimately you want to turn them into rockets and launch them towards space. A fantastically cool steampunk inspired theme makes for challenging and fun gameplay.

Features:
Rocket Island is an extremely cool puzzle game that features a steampunk theme. The idea is that a society needs to evacuate the planet to escape certain doom. By completing levels you help send rockets off the surface of the planet- the more you send the higher your score. The game ‘island’ is a cluster of hexagons, all at various stages of development. By touching a hex, it gets developed by one place. You go sea » sand » grass » wooden board » rocket skeleton » full rocket » launch.
The game is made tricky by the rules you have to follow. Initially you have to press one hex, then two matching ones (same stage of development), then three and so on. It is difficult because hexes have to be next to each other and you add them by dragging your finger over them.
There are two modes of play; Action and Casual. In casual, you play the game at your own pace and endeavor to accumulate as many points as you can before the island is destroyed. Alternatively, Action mode sees you racing against the clock. Both are fun, although you might want to try the Casual mode while you get the hang of gameplay.
Rocket Island is a fantastic puzzle game that’s thoroughly engaging and lots of fun to play. The graphics are crisp and nicely designed and the sound is immaculately created and very immersive. The killer feature, however, is the gameplay itself- it’s simple to play once you know how and very addictive. I did find that, after a fair amount of play it can feel more than a little repetitious, but until then, it’s a definite winner.

Fun factor:
If you like puzzle games, this is lots of fun. It gets you thinking quickly to anticipate potential patterns and opportunities to build and send multiple rockets.
Addictive:
The game is initially incredibly addictive and not easy to put down. Although it’s nice to play, there often feels like there is very little to chase or progress towards.
Graphics:
The graphics are really nice, brightly coloured, sharp and include plenty of detail. It’s a puzzle game so do not expect mind-blowing visuals but, as a puzzler, it’s extremely good.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
The sound is excellent; great sound effects and nice music. There are options to turn it all off of course, but it’s not unpleasant.
